Trygga Familjehem i Sverige AB is now seeking families and single individuals who want to help children and young people ages 0-20. We are looking for both foster families and emergency care homes.
Being an Emergency Care Home or Foster Family
Being a foster family is interesting, challenging, and above all rewarding! It involves opening the doors to your home, your family, your daily life and offering safety, guidelines, rules, and most importantly joy, compassion, and a desire to share your life.
This is of course a major responsibility and requires a clear commitment to success. This commitment must be shared by all family members, and consensus about what the task entails is very important. It is of course the case that everyone is affected when a new individual moves in and becomes part of the family. Please note that a single person can also be an emergency care provider or foster parent.
The most important thing is that you have a genuine interest in helping a child or young person build a better life. You must also be able to collaborate with all parties involved with the placed child or young person, such as schools, social workers, and family home consultants.
To manage a placement, you need to have a little extra of everything: space, time, and capability! Our requirements for you to begin a foster home assessment include:
- You do not appear in the police crime and suspicion register, the Swedish Social Insurance Agency's register regarding extended sick leave periods, the Enforcement Authority's register, or social registers for the past five years
- There is an available bedroom that can be offered to the placed child, without any family member having to give up their own bedroom. Note that shared spaces do not count as bedrooms.
- Your housing is permanent, meaning you do not sublet, are a lodger, or similar. The home is fully furnished and livable.
- You are in good health and able to work
- You have stable income and financial security
- At least one of you has time for meetings with social services and our family home consultants
- You do not have any major upcoming life changes, such as moving, extended travel, new studies, pregnancy, or similar
- You are fluent in Swedish
Trygga Familjehem Provides Support, Guidance, and Training
As a foster family, you will receive Trygga Familjehem's basic training for foster families. The goal is to make the placement as successful as possible for both the placed child and the foster family. Our consultants are always nearby for ongoing guidance and training to the family during the placement. Your family home consultant visits you regularly, and you work closely together on everything concerning the placed child, such as implementation plans and contact with authorities. You have 24/7 telephone support available for any questions. Trygga Familjehem's approach and mindset is to be accessible, provide support, help, ideas, and motivation!
Good Financial Compensation
Opening your home to a child, young person, or young adult is not about money, but about helping someone who needs a safe and stable life. However, you should receive fair compensation for the work you do.
Compensation is paid in two parts: a cost allowance of approximately 6,500 kr/month to cover food, clothing, travel, etc., and a fee for the work you perform.
The fee varies from 26,000 kr/month and upward depending on the complexity of the placement.
