The Business Area (BA) Surgery and Gastroenterology at Skåne University Hospital (SUS) includes surgical and gastroenterological operations in Lund and Malmö as well as surgical operations in Landskrona. Within the BA, acute, basic and highly specialized care is provided with care units and clinics in Malmö and Lund. Patients come here by referral from the entire Southern Healthcare Region and also from other parts of Sweden. The business area employs approximately 790 employees. Surgery Departments 1 and 2 is a large unit that provides high-quality care for acute surgical patients and provides both preoperative and postoperative care. The departments are located in the new Malmö Hospital (NSM) where we moved in September 2025. The unit has 49 beds distributed between Surgery Departments 1 and 2 and all staff rotate between both departments. The interprofessional teams on the unit include nurses, nursing assistants, physicians, nursing managers, specialist nurses, advanced specialist nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists and medical secretaries. The department also has a pharmacist, social worker and dietitian on staff. We offer a family-friendly workplace where we care for each other, show consideration and respect. WORK TASKS Your main task is to work together with your fellow unit manager, the responsible physician and employees to lead a care unit that always focuses on the patient, high quality and a good work environment. Through close leadership, you also create conditions for participation in the work of developing and improving care in the unit. Together you are responsible for working towards collaboration and coordination in a holistic perspective with other units at Skåne University Hospital, but also with operations outside the hospital. You will, in close collaboration with the other unit managers in the business area and the area manager, actively participate in strategic development work. The starting point is to work together for sustainable planning for the operations regarding patient safety, competence supply, work environment and finances. In the unit manager group, we share experiences and perspectives and support each other in meeting and managing a complex daily routine. As a manager leading employees, you take your operations in the expected direction towards the operations' goals. QUALIFICATIONS We welcome your application if you are a licensed nurse, alternatively have an academic education within healthcare or other education that the employer considers equivalent. Previous management and leadership experience is an advantage. If you also have leadership training, that is also an advantage. You express yourself well both verbally and in writing.
