Do you want to lead and develop a modern, secure, and business-aligned IT operation that creates the foundation for Sida's important mission in Sweden and internationally? We are looking for an experienced unit manager and IT director who wants to take comprehensive responsibility for leading, developing, and ensuring Sida's IT deliveries. About the job As unit manager for IT Management, you are also Sida's IT Director and have overall responsibility for ensuring that the agency's IT operations develop and that IT and infrastructure services are delivered in line with operational needs, strategic goals, and the requirements placed on a government agency. A central part of the role is to lead the governance of Sida's outsourced IT delivery. Sida will enter a new contract period with a new operations provider in early 2027. You are responsible for ensuring a professional client organization and developing relationships with strategic IT suppliers, with follow-up based on quality, cost, security, availability, and business value. Cybersecurity is integrated into the assignment. You translate requirements and risks in this area into priorities and measures. In collaboration with our security unit, you ensure that the security perspective is included in management, operations, development, and strategic decisions. You follow rapid technological developments in areas such as AI and automation, and contribute to the agency's ability to use new technology in a safe, responsible, and business-focused manner. Key responsibilities The role includes the following main responsibilities: Lead, develop, and follow up on the unit's operations, personnel, budget, work environment, and results Overall responsibility for governance, management, and development of Sida's IT deliveries Lead and develop Sida's client organization, supplier management, and contract follow-up with external IT providers Ensure that cybersecurity and regulatory requirements are integrated into governance, management, and IT delivery Initiate and lead strategic change and development initiatives within IT Monitor the external environment regarding IT, AI, digitalization, and cybersecurity and translate this into concrete initiatives Actively contribute to the department's collective development as a member of the management group Qualifications We are looking for an experienced IT director with the ability to combine strategic leadership with an understanding of complex IT deliveries and public operations. To succeed and thrive in the role, it is important that you have a clear business perspective and see IT as an integrated part of business development rather than as a separate support function. You understand the interplay between operations, digitalization, technology, and security, and have the ability to translate strategic goals into priorities and concrete results. You are comfortable in an environment where a large part of IT delivery is provided through external suppliers and understand what demands this places on the organization's capabilities in governance, procurement, follow-up, and supplier collaboration. Education Academic education in IT, systems science, informatics, engineering, or other field that the employer deems relevant. Alternatively, you have other education combined with experience that the employer considers equivalent. Languages Very good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both orally and in writing. Work experience and knowledge Multiple years of current experience as an IT director or equivalent leading position within IT. Multiple years of experience as a manager with responsibility for operations, personnel, budget, and work environment. Experience with strategic work and developing and implementing IT strategies, goals, and plans into concrete operations. Strong experience with client organizations, supplier management, contract follow-up, and requirements management with external IT providers. Experience with cybersecurity and integrating security issues into the governance and development of IT operations. Experience with digitalization and business development supported by digital technology. Experience leading change in a complex organization. Experience working in public operations. For this role, it is a merit if you have Experience with security-sensitive operations and the requirements that follow from security protection legislation. Experience with major procurements and strategic IT agreements. Experience with established models and frameworks for IT governance, service management, and operations management. Experience with strategic competency planning and development of IT organizations. Experience with international operations or organizations with operations in multiple geographic locations. Good to know The position is a permanent employment with start as soon as possible by agreement. Trial employment applies. Sida applies time-limited managerial appointments. The duration is four years with the possibility of extension. Sida offers the possibility of remote work to a certain extent if it works for operations.
