Your Tasks As a Student Mentor at Arenaskolan, you have a broad, student-centered role where you work to promote safety and a conducive learning environment both inside and outside the classroom. You actively participate in the school's values-based work and, together with other student coaches, you are responsible for organizing various activities for students during breaks. You also provide targeted mentoring support to either a few students and/or share mentoring responsibilities for a class. Students' support needs vary, and you are expected to adapt flexibly to each student you work with, aiming to help them succeed in school. The role may include serving as a sports instructor, leading and instructing groups of students during profile classes and/or multi-sport activities. This could involve lessons in, for example, football, dance, or athletics, depending on your expertise and the school's needs. The position involves collaborating with guardians and colleagues. You will be part of a team of approximately 10 other student mentors who together are responsible for active values-based work. As a Student Mentor with us, you will also work with: - Planning and conducting break activities (both indoors and outdoors). - Handling and overseeing the school's bullying incidents. - Communicating with guardians and colleagues. - Coordinating support for students. - Targeted interventions to promote attendance. - Helping/coaching students to develop positive social interactions with peers at school. - Monitoring student attendance and actively promoting attendance. - Running holiday school programs. - Serving as a classroom resource to support creating a conducive learning environment so more students can benefit from classroom instruction. Your Workplace Arenaskolan is a sports school located at Bilbörsen Arena. The school has programs in football, ice hockey, figure skating, swimming, dance, and multi-sport. Arenaskolan currently has approximately 550 students and approximately 80 employees. Arenaskolan's overarching goal is maximum learning, equity, engagement, and motivation. We achieve this by working together systematically and focused on ensuring all students experience safety and a conducive learning environment, which is the foundation for maximum learning. We have a shared and clear set of values that all staff actively implement. We maintain consistent school-wide rules and procedures so students experience clarity and predictability throughout the school day. As a new employee at Arenaskolan, we offer you an orientation to help you get settled into your new workplace and feel welcome. About You You have good knowledge of primary school curricula and regulations. It is an advantage if you have experience working with young people aged 10-16 years. It is also advantageous if you have experience in mentoring, working with students in grades 4-9, handling bullying incidents, working with youth displaying risk behaviors/requiring exceptional support, or leading groups/classes. You understand the importance of simple written documentation and can learn to use digital systems. It is an advantage if you have experience leading groups in associations or clubs. Since communication and documentation are a major part of the position, you must have excellent Swedish language skills, both spoken and written. You enjoy working with teenagers and understand the different developmental phases they go through. You work independently and find solutions to situations that arise. You have good collaboration skills, relating smoothly to students' and guardians' individual support needs. By encouraging and motivating others, you create involvement and engagement. You are flexible and adapt to changing circumstances. You remain calm in stressful situations that may arise among young people in the workplace.
