Move & Walk is Sweden's first and largest training option for children, youth, and adults with neurological disabilities. Within the group, we also operate an adapted primary and secondary school as well as administer personal assistance services. At Move & Walk, our entire operation is based on conductive pedagogy (CP), where movement combined with cognitive, communication, and social abilities are in focus. CP aims to provide tools so that each student, regardless of the extent of their disability, can live as independently as possible and manage daily life to the best of their ability based on their level.
At our schools, conductors, special educators, and student assistants work together to develop each student's development plan and ensure that each student's special needs are clearly identified. The staff working with students plays a very important role in the individual's development.
We are now looking for a student assistant for a temporary hourly position.
If you are passionate about working with people and want to help create a better everyday life and quality of life for people with disabilities, this is a position for you. We believe you have the ability to be flexible and work independently but also in collaboration with colleagues, as you will be working in close contact with our teachers/conductors and other school staff. As a student assistant, you also have a good ability to create and maintain relationships with primarily students and colleagues but also their guardians.
You have a good ability to communicate in Swedish in both speech and writing.
You are flexible and responsive and place the student's needs and learning at the center. You feel great commitment to your task and have a desire to work with us to develop our school activities. It is required that you have a genuine interest and a deeper understanding of the special needs our students have.
The role of student assistant includes
Following a student group throughout the entire school day and assisting students during both classes and breaks.
Following our students through pedagogical and physical support during the school day and during leisure activities/short-term activities before and after school.
Support for students with transfers, meals, and assistance with personal hygiene during bathroom visits and more.
You will work with students in various situations such as communication training, physical training, music, computer work, social training, and more. You will work both in groups/cross-groups and independently with students.
Required Competencies:
Completed upper secondary education that the employer deems adequate for the assignment.
Good knowledge of Swedish, in both speech and writing.
Experience working with children and youth with physical and neurological disabilities.
Good collaboration skills and ability to build relationships with both students, parents, and staff.
Meritorious:
Experience working as a student assistant
Education/experience working with students with autism spectrum disorder, visual impairment, and other disabilities
Care assistant education
Experience with documentation.
Knowledge of English in both speech and writing.
