The positions are paid hourly and you work as needed. Your Assignment As a student assistant, you work with students in adapted primary and secondary school. You support students with autism and moderate to severe intellectual disabilities who study subject areas. You work closely with teachers, special education teachers, and student assistants/teaching assistants in your team. Together you are responsible for the students' entire school day, which includes instruction, breaks, lunch, and transitions. You meet regularly to collaborate on student support and planning. As a student assistant, you follow and support students in all teaching activities throughout the school day as well as in leisure activities/short-term supervision in the afternoon. You support students individually, in small groups, and in the classroom. The teacher is responsible for planning and instructional materials, while you are an important part in implementing instruction. You support students in their basic needs, such as meals and hygiene, and contribute to creating safety, well-being, and good conditions for students' social and academic development. You build trusting relationships with students, guardians, and colleagues. You also participate in field trips and other activities outside of school. As an hourly substitute with us, you need to be able to work with short notice, whether for part of a day, a full day, or longer periods. You provide support where needed based on current needs. Your Experience For this position, you must have: - secondary education - experience working with children/youth on the autism spectrum and/or with intellectual disabilities - strong ability to express yourself well in Swedish, both spoken and written. It is an advantage if you also have: - experience working in adapted schools - experience working in schools, preschools, or care and support, for example as a personal assistant, support assistant, or support educator in short-term housing, group homes, day activities, or other activities where you have supported people in need of support - secondary education with a focus on children and leisure or care and support - relevant education or courses in autism spectrum and/or intellectual disabilities - knowledge of sign language communication or other alternative communication methods, such as visual supports. You are attentive and open to colleagues' thoughts and ideas and see the value of strong and supportive teamwork. As an hourly substitute, it's important that you are reachable, answer the phone, and can get to school with short notice. You are flexible and solution-focused with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances, always with the students' and the operation's best interests in focus. You are proactive and confident in acting in unexpected situations, while actively seeking information or support when unsure how to proceed. It's important that you listen and adapt to the operation's working methods, routines, culture, and expectations, and safeguard student privacy by handling information responsibly. Furthermore, you are calm, stable, and composed in stressful and demanding situations. To thrive in this role, you need to be resilient and have both the willingness and ability to work with students who may display challenging behaviors. You understand the complexity of the assignment and that the work requires patience and genuine commitment to the target group. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.
