Student Assistant at Munkhätteskolan
Malmö kommun · Full-time
Malmö stad August Palms plats 1, Malmö, Sweden
Ref: 20262060 Job Responsibilities We are now looking for you to become part of Munkhätteskolan and work as a student assistant in our adapted primary school or primary school. Your primary placement is in the adapted primary school, but you may also be assigned to work in other parts of the school as needed. In the adapted primary school, you work with student groups throughout the day. You support teaching staff in school and after-school care, and provide pedagogical, social, and physical support to students. Your duties include assisting students with ADL – Activities of Daily Living – such as meals, dressing and undressing, personal hygiene, and bathroom visits. Self-care duties, such as medication administration for ADHD or epilepsy, may also be included. You help students follow the teaching by motivating, supporting, and adapting instruction to their needs. You also support students in developing social skills and create balance between activity and rest during school and after-school care hours. You work closely with special education teachers, special educators, teachers, student assistants, and other professionals at the school. You have an important supervisory responsibility and interact with students in a calm manner, even when dealing with challenging behavior. Work tasks vary based on students' needs, the group's needs, and the school's operational needs. Qualifications You have completed upper secondary education and at least two years of experience working in an adapted primary school and/or primary school. Upper secondary education in the child and youth care program is a merit. Experience working with students with NPF diagnoses and/or education regarding intellectual disability and NPF is a merit. Experience with AAC/TAKK is also a merit. You need to be solution-oriented as the work environment will challenge you and you may need to make decisions on the spot based on what is best for the student. This also requires good collaboration skills since you will work with multiple functions and roles. You must have a stable physical constitution as outdoor activities occur in all weather conditions and you will need to provide physical support to students, including lifting. You need to be able to express yourself clearly in Swedish, both verbally and in writing, as the work involves contact with guardians and some documentation. You see others' strengths and differences as an asset and have a good ability to meet all students based on their individual needs and daily condition. You are proactive, flexible, and can easily adapt to what the school requires. Working with children for their benefit is an active choice. You are engaged, interested, and have the drive to develop and grow. We would like to see that you have good knowledge of chapters 1 and 2 of the school curriculum and are willing and interested in familiarizing yourself with other parts of the school's governing documents. You also have knowledge of how different disabilities affect student learning and how to best compensate for them. Of course, you maintain a professional approach and work to build positive relationships with all our students, their guardians, and colleagues at the school. We welcome your application!
