Our vision is to become Sweden's best school municipality. Sollentuna's municipal schools achieve strong student results and have high safety scores thanks to fantastic employees. By using research and proven pedagogy, we aim for even higher quality to stimulate children and young people's creativity and learning. In our schools, students should achieve excellent academic results and develop the competencies and abilities required for future studies and professional life. Tureberg School is a school located within walking distance of Sollentuna center. The school has approximately 230 students in grades F-9. We also have a motor disabilities unit with approximately 25 students with physical mobility limitations, as well as municipal teaching groups for approximately 40 students within the autism spectrum. The school has well-functioning values-based work and actively works to create an accessible school for every student, and our employees are characterized by great commitment and high competence. We work every day preventively and compensatorily to support students' social and academic development. We are the small school with big opportunities! Job Responsibilities As a teaching assistant at our motor disabilities unit, you are an important support to students with physical mobility limitations of varying degrees. You are part of a team of approximately 4-5 other teaching assistants and a mentor for a group of approximately 8 students. You actively help students with what they need assistance with during the school day. This includes pedagogical tasks but also everyday matters such as actively adjusting communication aids, helping with outerwear, toilet visits, medication, and meals for students who need it. At the beginning and end of the school day, all teaching assistants at the motor disabilities unit collaborate to ensure safe reception and handoff to school buses. You use AAC and Tobii computers flexibly, as several of our students benefit from and in some cases are entirely dependent on these tools to communicate. During lessons, you follow the teacher's instructions and actively support students in their learning. During students' breaks and free time, you are active in the activities. You work with multiple students during a day and are responsible for, when needed, handing over and communicating daily mood and new or changed working methods and approaches to colleagues. The assignment is very much about maintaining good relationships with students, their parents, and others in students' daily surroundings. Your role includes noticing and highlighting student progress. These can be things that for others are not particularly remarkable, but for these students become very meaningful. At Tureberg School, all employees are expected to be welcoming. Everyone has a responsibility to create a safe school environment where students feel seen, accepted, and valued. Qualifications To thrive in this role, you need to be driven, attentive, and adaptable. You need to find a balance between care, support, and learning in consultation with teachers. You therefore work with a solution-focused and relationship-building approach to better understand when and how you need to step in and support, or challenge students further. It is good if you are in good physical condition, as certain care tasks require some physical strength. Requirements Experience working as a teaching assistant with care responsibilities in a school Experience working with students with multiple physical disabilities Experience working with digital communication tools for non-verbal students Experience working with students diagnosed with autism Meritorious It is meritorious if you have supplementary courses focusing on motor disabilities, AAC, basic programming, special education, and/or NPF diagnoses. In this recruitment, we place great emphasis on personal suitability. Prior to employment, a criminal record check from the police will be conducted.
