Latvijas Nacionālā bibliotēka (hereinafter – LNB) announces a competition for a vacant position of DIGITAL COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT EXPERT at the Collection Development Department of the Bibliography Institute (profession code – 2422 10) We are looking for a structured and passionate colleague who enjoys creating order in large volumes of information and wants to explore new ways to preserve Latvian e-publications and make them discoverable for future generations. Main job duties: collect mandatory copies and donations of e-publications; communicate with publishers regarding e-mandatory copy and e-donation delivery, provide consultations and motivate publishers to ensure broader availability of e-publication mandatory copies; plan, analyze, coordinate and optimize digital collection development workflows; consult LNB staff, provide expertise and develop methodological documents on digital collection development and digital publication acquisition; prepare reports on received mandatory copies and annually compile digital collection accounting data; participate in project development and implementation related to national digital collection development, particularly in the direction of process automation, utilizing artificial intelligence capabilities. Requirements for candidates: master's degree in library and information science, data science, ICT, social or humanities sciences; at least 3 years of work experience in the library sector, experience in library and/or information work; good knowledge of information resource acquisition and collection management processes; good knowledge of publishing activities; knowledge of data creation, including national bibliography, and copyright; good knowledge and understanding of artificial intelligence technologies and the ability to critically evaluate their suitability for specific tasks; excellent Latvian language skills and English language proficiency at least at B1 level (job duties include working with documents and literature in foreign languages, as well as participation in international best practice and experience exchange); good digital skills and ability to work with large volumes of information.
