About the Workplace The Department of Laboratory Medicine (ILM) is one of seven departments at the Faculty of Medicine. We conduct leading research in the field of laboratory medicine with a focus on understanding disease development and improving diagnosis and treatment for patients. Some of our strongest research areas, with world-class activities, are cancer, genetics, and blood research. The department has approximately 300 employees and an annual turnover of around 500 million kronor, with the majority consisting of external research grants. ILM's office consists of 14 employees: an administrative coordinator, two HR partners, one HR administrator, seven economists, and two finance administrators, all under the leadership of an administrative director. The office's primary task is to support the core operations and enable high-quality research and education. The office is responsible for ensuring that the university meets both external requirements and laws as well as internal regulations and guidelines. Work is conducted with a focus on using resources efficiently based on operational needs and available funds. Duties and Responsibilities As an economist with us, you will become part of our engaged and competent economics team. You will work with qualified economic matters and serve as important support to the operations on issues related to economics, budgets, and follow-up. The role offers a wide variety of tasks within both project and operational economics. Your main duties include: • Project accounting and financial monitoring of research and operational projects • Budget work and financial planning • Year-end accounting and financial reporting • Financial advice and support to managers, researchers, and other operational representatives • Follow-up, analysis, and forecasting work • Invoice handling In addition to the above duties, other administrative tasks within the economics area may also occur. Qualifications To be suitable for the position, you need to meet the following requirements: Bachelor's degree in economics or other academic education that the employer considers equivalent. Experience with qualified economic work in accounting, financial management, and follow-up. Experience with project accounting and budget work. Good administrative ability and a structured work approach. Good ability to prioritize and plan your work and deliver results within given timeframes. Good collaboration skills and ability to build trusting relationships. Very good ability to express yourself orally and in writing in both Swedish and English, as the department operates in an international environment. Good digital competence and experience working in accounting systems, as well as the ability to quickly learn new digital tools, including AI-based tools to support your work. Other Information The employment is a permanent position at 100%, with start date as soon as agreed. A probationary period of 6 months may be applied.
