Driven Mechanical Design Engineer Energy Systems For several years, we at Toyota in Mjölby have been developing advanced complete lithium-ion battery systems for our forklifts. The technological breakthrough in lithium-ion batteries has opened new opportunities for us to offer our customers higher efficiency and lower environmental impact, among other benefits. We are now seeking a mechanical design engineer for the Energy Systems group within R&D to work on our battery development projects. In this role, you will be an important part of our battery development projects, where you will have the opportunity to work with exciting and innovative solutions for tomorrow's energy systems. Do you want to work on something that really matters? Do you want to be part of developing the next generation of lithium battery systems and contribute to the transformation that is changing the energy industry? With us, you will work at the forefront of technology, where innovation, sustainability, and rapid development create opportunities to shape tomorrow's energy solutions. We are now seeking an engaged and driven mechanical design engineer who wants to take an active role in developing our energy systems, from early concept studies to production and verification. As a mechanical design engineer with us, you will be an important part of a cross-functional development team where mechanical and electrical design engineers work closely together. You will be involved throughout the entire development process and contribute to creating robust, safe, and cost-effective battery systems that meet both customer needs and future requirements. The work includes design, component selection, dimensioning, and development of complete battery systems. You will create design documentation, participate in prototype building, and plan and conduct tests to verify that solutions work as intended. The role involves many contact points, both internally with, for example, production, procurement, and marketing, and externally with suppliers, customers, and partners. Here you will have the opportunity to work with both new development and further development of existing products. This means you will follow solutions from the idea stage all the way to finished product while contributing to continuous improvements that create value for our customers. We are looking for someone with experience in mechanical design who enjoys a role where you can combine technical depth with great personal responsibility. You have a good understanding of product development, manufacturing, and verification, and are self-sufficient in 3D CAD and PLM tools. But equally important is how you work. When you encounter obstacles, you seek ways forward and help the team maintain focus and energy. We believe that you enjoy having a positive influence on your surroundings. You like to share your knowledge, involve others, and contribute to creating engagement and momentum in the group. You don't need to be a formal leader to take leadership in your daily work. On the contrary, we would like to see you as someone who inspires others through action, collaboration, and a genuine interest in both technology and people. You are curious, unpretentious, and enjoy learning new things. At the same time, you have the ability to combine a structured approach with a holistic perspective and can make complex technical issues understandable for different audiences. We believe you have An engineering degree in mechanical engineering, vocational training, or equivalent experience. Experience in mechanical design in product development activities. Experience with 3D CAD and PLM systems, preferably CATIA V5. Good understanding of manufacturing methods such as sheet metal processing, welding, screw connections, and assembly. Experience in prototype development, testing, and verification. Experience with risk analyses such as FMEA is a merit. Good knowledge of Swedish and English. Why you will enjoy working with us With us, you will work with technology that makes a real difference in the transition toward a more sustainable future. You will become part of an engaged team where collaboration, knowledge sharing, and development are a natural part of everyday life.
