We are looking for new part-time firefighters for the rescue service in Vaggeryd and Skillingaryd with employment starting in fall 2026. Job Duties: As a part-time firefighter, you help create safety in society. You are called out to various acute emergencies such as traffic accidents, cardiac arrests, fires, drowning, chemical spills, flooding, water damage, animal rescues, and other acute situations where lives, property, and/or the environment may be at risk. Your duties may include providing qualified first aid, extinguishing fires, conducting water rescues, and much more that makes a difference. You will receive quality training paid for by the rescue service that equips you to handle the job. The rescue service has 3 work teams at each fire station that are on standby every third week. In addition, there are a number of firefighters in a substitute pool to fill temporarily arising vacancies. There is also an opportunity to work as an FIP firefighter (first response person) in Vaggeryd. The employment means you have a fixed schedule with 24-hour standby every third week and operate a small response vehicle during your standby week. You are part of the part-time force in Vaggeryd and are stationed in Vaggeryd. Being an FIP firefighter means you can respond directly from home or your regular workplace to the scene of an emergency. This means your residence and/or regular workplace can be up to 7 minutes' drive from the Vaggeryd fire station. After an initial selection, the rescue service will call candidates to a test day on Friday, November 13 at 13:00-16:00. About the Workplace The rescue service has 45 employees. 8 are full-time and 37 people are employed in our response organization on a part-time basis alongside their regular work. In Vaggeryd, there is one rescue chief, three readiness coordinators, two fire inspectors, and two shift leaders on full-time. The operational force consists of 21 part-time firefighters in Vaggeryd and 17 part-time firefighters in Skillingaryd, of which 5 people at each fire station are on 24-hour standby. Each person has standby duty every third week. Vaggeryd Municipality's rescue service is also part of RäddSam F. RäddSam F is a collaboration between 13 municipalities in Jönköping County and Ydre Municipality in Östergötland County, as well as SOS Alarm. Through joint efforts, we assist each other in both operational rescue operations and preventive work. Within RäddSam F, there is a large number of firefighters, shift leaders, incident commanders, and regional incident commanders available year-round, 24/7. Qualifications A good part-time firefighter: - Has a willingness to contribute to a safer society - Has a thoughtful and respectful attitude towards colleagues and the people you meet in your work - Must understand and speak Swedish for this position Work as a part-time firefighter requires that you enjoy problem-solving, have good cooperation skills, are calm and stable, and want to be part of a genuine and cohesive work team and can handle working under stress. You have a willingness to help other people, and we place great importance on your personal qualities. You must be able to swim and achieve a passing result in tests conducted according to our work-related test program. Additionally, a certificate from your regular employer is required stating that you are allowed to leave the workplace for alarms, training, and exercises, and that your residence and workplace are located so that a maximum travel time of 4 minutes to the fire station can be maintained; for FIP firefighters, a 7-minute travel time applies. A driver's license (at least category B) is required, and you must obtain category C driving privileges no later than 18 months after your employment date. The employer finances the training for this C driving privilege. Successfully completed treadmill and medical test according to AFS 2023:15 (arranged by the Rescue Service of Vaggeryd Municipality) Other Information This recruitment process includes interviews and reference checks.
