Do you want to lead and develop the teacher education of the future? Högskolan Dalarna is now seeking a dean for the Teacher Education Board (LUN) who, with strategic focus and academic grounding, wants to contribute to strengthening the quality and attractiveness of our teacher education programs. In this strategically important role, you will have the opportunity to lead and develop the teacher education area at Högskolan Dalarna. The assignment spans the entire institution and gives you a central position with great opportunities to influence the future development of education. As part of the assignment, you will work closely with the institution's leadership, participate in the rector's management group, and collaborate closely with the prefect and departments. You will have access to qualified support in the form of administrative functions and preparatory committees, which creates good conditions for focusing on strategic leadership and development. The institution has approximately 7,000 full-time students and offers a wide range of education including degree programs, several of which are large professional programs, as well as individual courses. Högskolan Dalarna has an extensive range of teacher education programs with 1,300 full-time students, making teacher education the institution's largest area among degree programs. With two campuses in Falun and Borlänge, you will work in a dynamic and stimulating environment where you have the opportunity to make a real difference for both students and operations. Your role as dean As dean of the Teacher Education Board (LUN), you have overall responsibility for leading, coordinating, and developing the educational science field within education and research that is shared across Högskolan Dalarna. You will work in a collegial organization where education is conducted in collaboration between several departments. Your assignment includes: Leading LUN's work. Serving as chair of LUN's education and research committee. Participating as an adjunct member with attendance and speaking rights in the rector's management group (RL). Representing the institution in various regional and national collaborative forums relevant to the teacher education area. Participating in the institution's steering group for student recruitment. The Teacher Education Board LUN has responsibility for quality assurance, coordination, and development within the educational science field in education and research that is shared across Högskolan Dalarna. This includes quality responsibility regarding overall objectives, progression, profile, and organization. LUN is responsible for developing a coherent strategic direction for the teacher education area and educational science research, including commissioned activities, which will guide operations. LUN also provides advisory support and prepares materials for departments regarding competency procurement, and for the rector and departments regarding strategic priorities within teacher education and research. Additionally, LUN is a preparatory body for several other matters concerning the teacher education area, including government assignments. Are you the person we're looking for? Requirements: Docent or professor in a field relevant to the assignment. Documented well-regarded experience of academic leadership in higher education. Good knowledge of the sector. Good knowledge of teacher education's structure, governance, and regulations. Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish and English. Meritorious: Teacher education background. Well-regarded experience working in a leadership position within the teacher education area (for example, prefect, study rector, program coordinator, research group leader, or equivalent). Experience leading strategic development work within teacher education. Experience with strategic development work in educational science research. Experience collaborating with school authorities and work-based education. Experience with quality work and evaluation in higher education. Experience working in collegial bodies. Employment The position is a permanent appointment at 100% full-time, with a start date as soon as possible by mutual agreement. Probation may be applied. At Högskolan Dalarna, the position of dean for the Teacher Education Board is a task within a position, constituting 60% of full-time work, with the remaining 40% carried out within the framework of a base appointment, which includes standard work tasks within education, research, and collaboration. The assignment requires a base appointment at the institution. External candidates will therefore be offered an appropriate base appointment within the institution. The mandate period for the assignment is four years with the possibility of renewal for two additional mandate periods of two years each. In addition to the standard recruitment process, this process includes consultation with representatives from labor organizations, student and employee bodies, known as a hearing.
