The County Administrative Board is a driving force for a sustainable society. The County Administrative Board has broad operations and a very important role in several areas of society. This includes not least the highly current challenges of regional growth and implementing the green transition, developing civil defense, and nurturing democracy. Job Description The Nature and Water Department is tasked with managing nature and water issues in the region. The department consists of approximately 230 employees distributed across four units: the unit for natural environment, the unit for nature and water matters, the unit for restoration and management of nature and water, and the unit for nature and water support. The department works with issues related to biodiversity, sustainable use of nature and water resources, promotion of outdoor recreation, and wildlife and fisheries management. We also have responsibility for one of Sweden's five water authorities. We are now seeking a head for the unit for Nature and Water Support. The unit for Nature and Water Support is a new unit tasked with providing support to the Nature and Water Department. This includes support in various areas such as economics and budget, planning and follow-up, administration, and specifically in AI and GIS. The unit head will, in addition to being responsible for the unit, also serve as strategic support to the department head and the department's management group. The unit consists of approximately 12 employees located in Göteborg, Mariestad, and Vänersborg. The County Administrative Board seeks clear, attentive, and inspiring leadership, where you as a manager lead with trust and create conditions for active employee engagement and self-leadership. In your role as unit head, you are responsible for driving and developing the unit and department operations from a holistic perspective that considers the authority's best interests. Through health-promoting leadership, you create conditions for development of both operations and employees. The main tasks of the position are: Drive and develop the unit's and department's operations. Lead and develop employees within the unit. Lead through change and manage goal conflicts. Participate in the department's management group with the task of ensuring the best interests of the entire department and County Administrative Board. Support the department head and department management group. Participate in, develop, and maintain collaborations both internally and externally. Work location: Göteborg, Vänersborg, or Mariestad. We offer opportunities for remote work during part of your time. Travel is part of the position. Our Expectations of You We are seeking you who have relevant higher education or education in combination with experience that we consider equivalent. We want you to have at least one year of current experience in a management position with personnel responsibility. As a manager, you have previous experience planning, budgeting, and following up on operations and personnel. You have experience, interest, and ability to drive and develop operations, lead and develop people, and lead through change. For us, it is important that you have a good understanding of the significance of nature and water issues from a socioeconomic perspective. Additionally, we would like to see that you have knowledge, interest, and ability to drive digital development forward – for example in areas such as AI. You also need to have an interest in driving the development of the issues for which the unit is responsible. Personal Qualities We are seeking a confident and goal-oriented leader who has the ability to drive and develop operations and lead and develop employees. For you to thrive and succeed in this work, you need to be development-oriented and have strategic ability. Change is a natural part of the work, so you need to be clear in your communication and have the ability to create understanding for the bigger picture and context. For us, it is important that you have a holistic perspective and the ability to prioritize from a holistic viewpoint. That you are attentive and have trusting and health-promoting leadership with a good ability to create and maintain relationships of trust. The ability to create structure for yourself and others is also important in this work. We would like to see that you have: Biological/limnological or marine education. Experience working in public operations. Several years of experience, interest, and ability to drive and develop operations with complex assignments. Experience in driving digital development and creating conditions and engagement, for example, in using AI.
