We are now looking for you to start and shape Luthagens Gymnasium – a completely new secondary school in Uppsala Municipality. Luthagens Gymnasium is a new secondary school being established in the former Fyrisskolans premises on Götgatan in Uppsala. The school will have approximately 300–350 students in the Hotel and Tourism and Restaurant and Food programs, both school-based education and apprenticeship training. Operations are expected to start in fall 2027. Close collaboration with the industry will be an important part of the school's development and work to ensure the quality and relevance of the education. The operation will also have a restaurant, a shop, and some conference activities to train students. Your Assignment This is an assignment for you who want to build something new from the ground up – and leave your mark on a secondary school from day one. Your first assignment will be to start and build up Luthagens Gymnasium ahead of the school's opening in fall 2027. Together with staff and secondary school management, you will shape a school with a clear identity, culture, and future direction, create a well-functioning organization, establish common working methods – where students and staff thrive, develop, and succeed and where education has a strong connection to working life. You therefore also have an important role in building relationships with the industry and developing the collaboration that will help ensure the education maintains high quality and is relevant to working life. At the same time, there is an important starting point: the operation already exists today. Students and staff from the Restaurant and Food program come from Ekebygymnasiet, where you will also be principal during the development phase. This gives you the opportunity to build on what works well while also developing and shaping the new. The Hotel and Tourism program and the Restaurant and Food program apprenticeship are currently at Ellen Fries gymnasium and will move to the new school. When the school opens in fall 2027, your assignment continues to develop the operation and build on the foundation you have helped establish. As principal, you lead the educational activities and have management responsibility for operations, staff, finances, student health, and workplace environment issues. You lead and drive the school's systematic quality work regarding academic results and knowledge development together with your program principals and other staff, with a focus on all students receiving the right support and being challenged in their learning. You create participation through dialogue and a work environment characterized by creativity and solution-focused thinking. You also create conditions for a flexible and sustainable organization that supports staff in the secondary school's mission. You report to the Head of Municipal Secondary School and are part of the rector's collegium together with around 10 other secondary school principals. As a manager in Uppsala Municipality, you also receive support from both secondary school management and the municipal management office regarding finances, HR, communication, workplace environment/rehabilitation, IT, and facilities. Your Background We are looking for someone who is analytical and results-oriented with strong self-drive. You have a well-developed pedagogical ability and can drive ideas from start to finish. You work in a structured and persistent manner, are skilled at building relationships, and promote others' ideas. You lead with a positive and coaching approach and actively build a well-functioning organization.
