About the Organization Borås Kulturskola, which has operated for over 80 years, is located in fresh facilities in Simonsland, centrally located in Borås city, and offers courses in music, dance, theater, visual arts, film, textiles and circus. Activities are also conducted at our program points Hässlehuset on Hässleholmen, Norrby and Musikens hus in Fristad. Kulturskolan exists for the municipality's young people and plays a particularly important role in children and youth leisure time. Kulturskolan offers approximately 2500 subject courses per week, conducts Kulturskola activities at eight primary school branches in the municipality, and has contracted activities in preschool, primary school, special school and secondary school. Kulturskolan also offers open activities in creative pursuits, music and school holiday programming. Together, students and teachers create a large outward-facing organization with many performances, concerts and exhibitions each year, making Kulturskolan an important and visible meeting place in the municipality. Job Responsibilities You now have the opportunity to apply for an exciting and varied temporary position as a brass instruments teacher at Borås Kulturskola, as one of our permanent teachers is going on parental leave. In this position, you will teach students trombone, French horn, baritone and trumpet at various levels, from beginners to secondary school students. You will also teach brass instruments in our Kulår, a one-year introductory course offered to all first-year students in the municipality, and lead brass ensembles, chamber groups and orchestras together with colleagues. You are responsible for organizing, administering and conducting instruction in your subject areas and for planning and conducting concerts and projects with your colleagues. You will become part of a subject team with high ambitions and a strong desire to create meaningful activities for the municipality's children and youth. You plan and deliver instruction with a focus on student development, participation and enjoyment of music and artistic expression. You actively work to give children and youth influence over their learning by utilizing their ideas and interests. Through a responsive and inclusive approach, you adapt instruction to each student's needs and abilities, and encourage students to take their own initiative and participate in determining the content of instruction. The position involves duties on evenings, weekends and during school breaks. Qualifications We are looking for someone who is passionate about children and youth development and wants to contribute to Kulturskolan continuing to be an important meeting place in the municipality for children and youth. You are an engaging and inspiring teacher with excellent knowledge of trumpet, trombone, French horn, tuba and baritone with broad understanding of different genres and playing techniques. You feel confident using both ear training and music reading in your teaching. You have a music teacher degree with brass instruments as your main subject or other appropriate higher education that is suitable for the position. Experience is required. A Category B driver's license is required. We consider it meritorious if you have worked in Kulturskola or similar activities. It is meritorious if you have worked with StudyAlong. As a person, you have good collaboration skills, work in a structured manner and demonstrate high personal maturity. We also value cultural awareness, independence and your ability to build good relationships with colleagues, students and guardians. You have good social competence and a professional demeanor.
