The Department of Civil Engineering and Industrial Technology conducts interdisciplinary engineering research on infrastructural and industrial socio-technical systems and processes. Our research is strongly linked to sustainable development and is built on extensive collaboration with society and industry. The department's research is organized within two research programs: Industrial Technology and Building Technology and the Built Environment.

The Department of Electrical Engineering conducts outstanding research and education in electrification, digitalization, and health technology, with applications ranging from renewable energy, electrified transportation systems, robotics, AI, 5G/6G communication, smart sensors, and medical technology. Together with stakeholders, we build medical engineering and electrical systems from material and manufacturing understanding to the software needed.
The department is organized into four divisions: Electrical Science, Technology for Integrated Smart Systems, Solid State Electronics, and Signals and Systems. Together, we create a dynamic and international environment where research and education meet, and where we contribute to technical solutions that shape future society—locally as well as globally.
