We are now recruiting an assistant lecturer in public law to complement and develop the research and educational environment at the Department of Legal Science in Kalmar. We are looking for someone who wants to be on site in Kalmar and build anew, develop the established, and in collaboration contribute to building a complete academic environment that makes an impact both within and outside the university world. See further http://www.lnu.se/rv-miljo The Department of Legal Science is organizationally affiliated with the Faculty of Social Sciences and currently has approximately 15 full-time employees. The department conducts research in, among other areas, European law, public law, and civil law. Subject area for the position: Legal Science Placement location until further notice: Kalmar. Since Linnaeus University is located in both Växjö and Kalmar, travel between the locations may occur. Scope of employment: Full-time for 4 years. Start date: Start date by agreement. The purpose of employment as an assistant lecturer is according to https://www.riksdagen.se/sv/dokument-lagar/dokument/svensk-forfattningssamling/hogskoleforordning-1993100_sfs-1993-100#K4 to give the teacher the opportunity to develop his or her independence as a researcher and to qualify both scientifically and pedagogically to meet the requirements for eligibility for employment as a lecturer. According to the Higher Education Ordinance (HF Chapter 4, Section 12c), an assistant lecturer shall, upon application, be promoted to lecturer if he or she both has eligibility for employment as a lecturer and, upon review, is deemed suitable for such employment according to the assessment criteria applicable to the position. Such a promotion entails a permanent employment as a lecturer. Application and review for promotion to lecturer shall take place within the employment period as an assistant lecturer. Job description: As an assistant lecturer in public law at the Department of Legal Science, you have an active role in building the research environment. The employee shall actively participate in national and international research activities. The employee is expected to have continuous presence in the workplace. The position includes 50% teaching, primarily in the department's legal science program and the forthcoming law program, which is under development. Teaching in other courses, for example through lending to other departments, also occurs. The remaining 50% is expected to be spent by the assistant lecturer conducting research in his or her field with the aim of qualifying for promotion to lecturer and possible docent position. Eligibility Eligible for employment as an assistant lecturer is one who has completed a doctoral degree in legal science/law or has equivalent scientific competence. Primarily, it should apply to those who have completed a doctoral degree or reached equivalent competence at most seven years before the time the application for employment as an assistant lecturer expires. However, those who have completed a doctoral degree or achieved equivalent competence earlier may also be considered if there are special grounds. Special grounds refer to leave due to illness, parental leave, or other similar circumstances. (HF Chapter 4, Section 4a). Assessment criteria: The following assessment criteria shall be particularly considered for assistant lecturer according to Linnaeus University's employment regulations: scientific and pedagogical skills, international experience, experience and ability to collaborate, and experience in leadership. These assessment criteria shall be evaluated in the application for promotion to lecturer. When the university hires new teachers, applicants shall be selected who, through a qualitative overall assessment of competence and skills, are judged to have the best conditions for carrying out and developing the relevant tasks and contributing to a successful development of the activities. As the collegium at the Department of Legal Science is under development, great emphasis is placed on the applicant having demonstrated good collaboration skills as this is important for the successful establishment of the research and educational environment. For eligibility for this position, good ability to express oneself orally and in writing in Swedish and English is also required. In the event of an application for promotion to lecturer, the following assessment criteria shall apply: A guide for assessing scientific skills is the independence, scope, and quality of one's own research. Pedagogical skills shall have been demonstrated through teaching and concern both the development, planning, implementation, and evaluation of teaching, as well as supervision and examination. Pedagogical skills shall demonstrate a reflective approach to students' learning and to one's own teacher role.
