About the Operation The Women's Clinic in Falun is the region's only maternity hospital. The clinic consists of a labor ward, antenatal ward, postpartum ward, postpartum clinic, gynecological ward, gynecological clinic, patient hotel, and patient advocacy services. As a newly qualified midwife with us, you'll receive a structured introduction program with mentorship, reflection time, and opportunities for advanced training—ensuring a secure and sustainable start to your career. Job Responsibilities After completing your training and obtaining your license, you'll work as a midwife in the labor ward, antenatal ward, and postpartum/gynecological ward at Falun Hospital. The postpartum/gynecological ward is a shared care unit where we care for postpartum women and newborns as well as patients with gynecological care needs. We practice evidence-based care to provide safe, secure, and person-centered care—with the expectant and new family in focus. We value the healthy aspects of both normal and complicated labor processes. Our collaboration with the neonatal ward is close and well-functioning. As a midwife with us, you'll provide support and care during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum—in both normal and complicated situations. You'll also be responsible for newborn care, breastfeeding counseling, and supporting parenthood. In the labor ward, you'll work in a team with nursing assistants and physicians—the goal is always to provide each family with the care they need. The postpartum ward is a medical care facility. Healthy mothers and babies often stay at the patient hotel or go home early, with follow-up through our Postpartum Clinic. The midwife's role extends throughout life. You'll work in health promotion, prevention, and treatment—with particular focus on women's reproductive health. The work may also include counseling on sexuality and contraception for both women and men, care for gynecological health issues, and participation in abortion procedures. The Swedish midwife has a unique, independent role and a broad field of work. We seek someone with a genuine interest in working with women and families during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum care. You're comfortable working both independently and in teams, have good collaboration skills, and are confident in making decisions and prioritizing in acute situations. Work enthusiasm, engagement, and innovative thinking are important qualities for us—therefore, we place great importance on personal qualities in our recruitment.
