About the Position
At Frölunda and Opaltorget libraries, we work to make a real difference for children and young people. Their initiative and creativity are our strongest driving force, and our facilities are designed to meet the needs and wishes of our target audience. The mission of promoting reading permeates everything we do. You also work in a participant-driven and initiative-based manner, which means that ideas and content are co-created with the people who use the service.
The library is a place where we come together around reading, creativity, experiences, and community. Together with our users, we build an activity with strong ties to the neighborhood, that is responsive to those who live there and is open to developing together with users. In our work promoting reading, we place great emphasis on good knowledge of literature and understanding of our target audience's media habits. We are now seeking a librarian who wants to work with children ages 9-18.
In this role, you will meet children and young people in daily library work and create relationships with them, important adults around them, educators, and other local actors. You will lead educational activities related to, for example, crafts, art, and other creative pursuits. You will activate our creative studios and workshops at the libraries and help make these spaces into vibrant places where children and young people can experiment, create, and express themselves on their own terms.
This position is a twelve-month temporary contract at full time with the possibility of extension. The position includes day, evening, and weekend shifts according to schedule.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has
A degree in Library and Information Science
Experience working pedagogically with children in creative activities, such as art, drama, or crafts
Experience with participant-driven and initiative-based working methods
Good ability to communicate in speech and writing in Swedish
It is advantageous if you have
Knowledge of languages other than Swedish and English
Experience working in public libraries
Work with literature as an art form
Experience leading and engaging groups of children and young people
