Department Manager for Finance and Operations Support at Sametinget Would you like to lead and develop important support processes in a government agency with a unique societal mission? Sametinget is seeking a confident, analytical, and strategic leader with strong financial expertise. Location: Giron/Kiruna, Staare/Östersund, or Jåhkåmåhkke/Jokkmokk, with the possibility of a remote work agreement. Reports to: The Chancellor. Responsibilities: Budget, personnel, and operational responsibility for a department with approximately 15 employees. Start date: According to agreement. About SametingetSametinget is an elected Sámi parliament and a government agency established in 1993. Its mission is to promote and develop a living Sámi culture, participate in societal planning, and ensure that Sámi needs are considered. The agency operates in Kiruna, Östersund, Jokkmokk, and Tärnaby and has approximately 70 employees. About the roleAs department manager for finance and operations support, you will have a central role in Sametinget's leadership and development. You will be responsible for the agency's financial management, internal services, IT/IS, and operations development in your area. You will work closely with the Chancellor, the board, and committees and contribute to stability, quality, and progress in the agency's support processes. The department encompasses finance, HR, communications, legal affairs, administration, internal services, and IT/IS. The role involves budget and personnel responsibility for approximately 15 employees. Main responsibilities • Lead, develop, and monitor the department's work in finance, administration, internal services, and IT/IS • Manage budget work, budget monitoring, financial statements, and annual reports • Ensure high quality in financial management, accounting, and internal support processes • Be responsible for and contribute to procurements and other development matters within the department's area of responsibility • Provide strategic and operational support to the Chancellor, board, and committees • Create favorable conditions for employees through clear leadership, structure, and development focus Requirements for the roleTo be a suitable candidate for this position, you must meet the following requirements: • Academic degree in finance or accounting • Extensive experience with budget and financial statement work • Experience with budget monitoring, annual reports, and accounting matters • Previous management experience • Experience from public administration • Strong ability to lead, develop, and inspire employees • Excellent communication skills and an analytical and strategic approach MeritsIt is an advantage if you also have: • Experience from politically governed organizations • Knowledge of the Sámi language • Knowledge of Sámi culture and Sámi society • Experience with procurements • Knowledge of administrative law • Understanding of IT/IS development at a strategic level Personal qualitiesWe are looking for someone who is confident in their leadership and has the ability to create direction, clarity, and engagement.
