Your Work Tasks In this role, you work broadly and project-oriented, focusing on new installations, retrofits, and commissioning rather than pure line maintenance. You are part of the automation group within IT/Digitalization and work closely with production, maintenance, and MES. You will drive and participate in technical automation projects related to machinery investments and process improvements. Program, configure, and optimize PLC systems. Program and commission drive systems. Read, review, and when necessary design electrical schematics and specify hardware. Responsible for commissioning and testing on-site in production—both locally in Garphyttan and at our global production facilities. Monitor, maintain, and further develop the group's standards for hardware and software to ensure operational reliability and consistency. Coordinate with suppliers and collaborate cross-functionally with colleagues at all organizational levels. Good to Know The position is based at the Garphyttan facility. Since the role supports the group's global investments, travel is required as needed, which includes approximately 10–16 weeks of travel per year (periodically in continuous blocks during major deployments to factories in Mexico, China, and the USA, among others). Our Expectations Several years of practical experience in industrial automation and commissioning in manufacturing or process industry. Strong experience with PLC programming (particularly Siemens TIA Portal). Experience reading schematics and electrical engineering in CAD environments (e.g., ELPROCAD). Comfortable working both independently and in a team in production environments and making technical decisions at the machine line. Fluent English spoken and written (Swedish is a merit). Driver's license category B and full willingness and ability to travel internationally. Merits: Experience with safety PLCs, drive systems (e.g., Sinamics), interfaces to MES/databases, or background from steel, metal, or heavy process industry. As a person, you are confident in your expertise, collaboration-oriented, and unpretentious.
