Job Description Do you want to work with some of Sweden's most advanced automation solutions and be a key person in developing the industry of the future? AFRY Advanced Automation in Borlänge helps industry develop safe, efficient, and sustainable production facilities with Siemens SIMATIC PCS7 as a central platform. We work closely with our customers in sectors such as steel, process, and energy, and drive projects ranging from feasibility studies and system design to commissioning, optimization, and further development. We are now looking for an experienced automation engineer who wants to take a leading technical role in our assignments and contribute specialist expertise in Siemens PCS7. As a Senior Automation Engineer with us, you will be an important part of our customers' development journey. You will work to analyze needs, develop technical solutions, and ensure that our automation systems deliver high operational reliability and long-term business value. In some projects, you will follow the entire process from concept and design to completed facility, while in other assignments you will contribute cutting-edge PCS7 expertise in specific parts of the project. The role also includes responsibility for planning, coordinating, and monitoring automation deliveries. You will work closely with project managers, designers, process engineers, and customers to ensure projects are executed with the right quality, schedule, and technical solution. The work is varied and developmental. One week you might work on developing new control systems for a major production facility, while the next week you focus on optimization, troubleshooting, migration, or upgrading of existing PCS7 environments. You will work both from our Borlänge office, at customer sites, and together with AFRY's national automation organization. You will become part of an engaged team with high technical expertise in automation, electrical design, mechanical design, and project management. Knowledge exchange is a natural part of everyday work, and we would like to see you contribute as a mentor and technical support to more junior colleagues. Qualifications In this role, it is important that you have a strong sense of planning and structure. You work methodically and are experienced in handling complex system environments, such as Siemens PCS7, where you break down tasks into clear steps and ensure quality in deliveries. Accuracy and attention to detail are a natural part of your working approach. We also value integrity. You put the team's and organization's goals first and always act professionally, especially in deliveries where PCS7 is business-critical for the customer's operations. Finally, communication is a key competency. You express yourself openly and honestly, listen to others' perspectives, and create dialogue – both internally and in customer collaborations where you often serve as a technical expert in PCS7. Requirements Relevant professional experience in industrial automation with a clear focus on Siemens SIMATIC PCS7 Relevant formal education in automation or equivalent practical experience Good system knowledge of PCS7 (design, programming, commissioning) Language skills: Swedish and English, spoken and written Meritorious Engineering degree in electrical/automation with industrial focus Experience working in project form, preferably in a leading role in automation projects based on PCS7 Experience with PCS7 system upgrades and migrations Experience as a lead engineer supporting junior colleagues Experience integrating PCS7 with drive systems or other industrial systems Experience from projects in the steel, metals, or energy sectors Additional Information Welcome to submit your application; the deadline is 2026-09-30.
