Description The Waste Department is responsible for the collection and treatment of waste under municipal responsibility in the short and long term. The collection and treatment of waste is carried out by contractors. The department is responsible for service development, behavior-influencing initiatives to prevent waste, developing waste plans and regulations, managing the city's closed landfills, and operating Återbruket. In January 2027, Kretsloppsparken Högsbo will open – a modern circular economy park with a focus on reuse, sustainability, and circular flows. Kretsloppsparken replaces the old Högsbo recycling center. We are now recruiting recycling workers for the recycling center in Kretsloppsparken Högsbo. Job Responsibilities Do you care about sustainability and want a social and varied job? We are now seeking 10 recycling workers for the new recycling center in Kretsloppsparken Högsbo. We are a newly built and modern recycling center where we focus heavily on reusing items that are dropped off. These are then resold in our store, Återbruket. The recycling center is open weekdays 07-19 and weekends 9-17, and as a recycling worker you will work day shifts, evening shifts, and weekends. Your job responsibilities will include: Helping our customers navigate and sort materials correctly at the recycling center. Inventorying and sorting hazardous waste. Managing warehouse logistics and preparing items to be picked up by contractors, such as packaging and electrical waste. Operating forklifts and wheel loaders to move branches, soil, and smaller containers, etc. At the recycling center we handle everything from compostable materials and hazardous waste to furniture and household appliances. You will be on your feet most of the day and heavy lifting is part of the job. As a recycling worker you will both collaborate with others and work independently when needed, and you need to be comfortable with both. When you start with us, the position begins with a training period. Employees who handle explosives may be subject to suitability assessment and approval by Räddningstjänsten Storgöteborg, which involves disclosure of criminal records and suspicion registers. Qualifications In this position, we place great emphasis on your personal qualities. We are looking for someone who is service-oriented, flexible, and who can easily adapt to different situations that may arise at a recycling center. You take responsibility for your tasks and communicate clearly with both colleagues and visitors. Since we work in a service organization, you need to be friendly and helpful to visitors/other people even in stressful situations. Work at the recycling center involves a fast pace, many visitors, and situations that can be challenging. It is therefore important that you can stay calm, handle stress, and treat even frustrated or dissatisfied visitors in a professional and respectful manner. To apply you must have: Complete upper secondary education. Good communication skills in Swedish, both spoken and written. Computer skills. B driver's license. Experience with customer service and comfort working in a role with extensive customer contact. You must be able to work day, evening, and weekend shifts according to the facility's schedule. Good physical condition as heavy lifting is involved. It is an advantage if you also have: Experience operating machinery, such as counterbalance forklifts or wheel loaders. Training in hazardous waste. Crane operation skills. Basic English language skills.
