When ore has been extracted, voids are created in the rock, and that's where you come in. We fill these spaces with paste, a material similar to slightly looser concrete, to stabilize the rock mass and enable continued mining. Paste is pumped via a modern piping system from the plant above ground, making the process both efficient and technically exciting. It's an important part of our work to create a safe working environment and contribute to sustainable mining operations. We're expanding the Paste Backfill team and are now looking for two backfill workers who want to join our journey. Your Role As a backfill worker, you're responsible for preparing for backfilling of extracted rock chambers and monitoring ongoing filling operations. You work closely with underground production and have daily contact with staff in the paste plant above ground. The positions are permanent employment with shift rotation, 7-7 days of day and night shifts. This means you work one week Monday-Sunday daytime 06.00-15.18 followed by a week off, then one week of night work 18.00-03.00, followed by another week off. Your Team You become part of our team within the Mine Services section, where we work at the heart of the mine's future. Here you join the Paste Backfill group, a tight-knit team consisting of four shift teams with backfill workers plus a technician and led by a dedicated foreman. Together we ensure that backfilling runs smoothly and safely, so the mine can continue to develop. Your Tasks Assembly and installation of backfill pipes and hoses Monitoring of the piping network and observation of chambers being filled Maintenance work on the piping system Close collaboration with the paste plant, mine planning, and underground production Your Qualifications Upper secondary education in a relevant field B-category driver's license Swedish spoken and written Good computer and system skills Meritorious qualifications: Upper secondary education in construction, industrial, or mining engineering Experience working in a mine or industrial setting Operating license for mobile work platform and Hot Work certification Why Work with Us At Boliden, we believe in promoting a workplace where care, courage, and responsibility are central to everything we do.
