The State Commission for Health and Work Capacity Medical Expertise invites applications for a vacant position of Senior Medical Expert in the Valmiera Division (permanent position; 1 vacancy; workplace – Jumaras iela 195, Valmiera, LV-4201)
Position Objective:
Make decisions on predicted disability, disability, and loss of work capacity, and provide opinions in accordance with the Disability Law.
Main Position Responsibilities:
• Review client applications and organize the conduct of medical expertise;
• Assess the quality of received documents and sufficiency of information, and decide if necessary whether to conduct expertise in the person's presence or request information from a specific entity;
• Independently conduct expertise of a person's health disorders and functional abilities and draw conclusions about functional limitations, their degree, and prognosis;
• Assess the quality of expertise reports and, based on evaluation of functional limitations, issue administrative acts;
• Provide consultation to clients, general practitioners, and treating physicians, within the scope of competence.
Requirements for Candidates:
• Compliance with requirements of Article 7 of the State Civil Service Law;
• Higher medical education (medical degree);
• At least three years of work experience as a physician;
• Understanding of administrative procedures in institutions;
• Knowledge of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health;
• Ability to conduct physical or psychological examination of a person, understand and evaluate medical documentation, ability to assess human functioning;
• Communication, planning, monitoring, and analytical skills;
• Computer skills (MS Word, Excel) at user level and office equipment operation.
