The Department of Archaeology, Ancient History, and Conservation conducts teaching and research in seven subjects: ancient culture and society, archaeology, Assyriology, Egyptology, conservation, osteology, and global environmental history. The Department operates at both Uppsala, Campus Engelska parken and Visby, Campus Gotland and offers six bachelor's programs and ten master's programs, many of which are taught in English, as well as a large number of standalone courses. Research education is conducted in the subjects of archaeology, ancient culture and society, Egyptology, and conservation. The Department has approximately 90 employees. Read more about the Department here: Department of Archaeology, Ancient History, and Conservation We are now seeking three to four research assistants to contribute to the production of archaeological data within the national infrastructure Swedigarch. Job Duties The position involves contributing to the digital resources that Swedigarch provides in the form of databases. Job duties include digitization work, georeferencing, processing of existing data, creating metadata, standardization and harmonization of data, as well as quality control of Swedigarch's building database. Qualifications and Requirements According to the Higher Education Ordinance chapter 5, a person eligible for employment as a research assistant is one who has been admitted to education at the basic or advanced level. Requirements for employment are documented competence in GIS in the form of education or equivalent, and experience with processing archaeological GIS data, including digitization and georeferencing, as well as experience creating data for Swedigarch's building database. The University will primarily consider the applicant who, after a comprehensive assessment of qualifications, competence, and skills, is deemed to have the best conditions to carry out and develop current work tasks and contribute to positive development of operations.
