National Bioinformatics Infrastructure Sweden (NBIS) is now seeking a new team member for web development with a focus on frontend. The position is located at Uppsala University in BMC, Navet, Science for Life Laboratory's (SciLifeLab) node in Uppsala. The person we are looking for will be placed at the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology (ICM) and affiliated with NBIS and SciLifeLab. ICM is one of the most international, broad, and leading biomolecular institutions in Europe. The department's research areas are divided into seven research programs covering everything from cell biology to biophysics of individual molecules. NBIS is a national collaboration whose purpose is to provide support for bioinformatics and infrastructure to researchers in the life sciences. NBIS also constitutes the Swedish node in the European infrastructure ELIXIR for biological data. NBIS has approximately 90 experts throughout the country in various fields such as DNA, RNA, and protein analysis, systems biology, genetic analysis, mass spectrometry proteomics, and metabolomics. NBIS also works within systems development and data management. The systems developers are a group of approximately 10 experts who develop and implement tools for large-scale analyses and large-scale data handling, as well as web applications for research groups and other actors in society. Job Responsibilities With us, you will work with agile development of software solutions and user interfaces unique to the bioinformatics field. In this role, you will be responsible for new development and further development, with a focus on frontend. Your work is creative and part of the work is based on incoming requests from various research groups, where you will have the opportunity to come up with innovative suggestions. Here you work closely with other developers in one of our SCRUM teams. The work is both local and international. You will also have contact with experts and researchers in bioinformatics. At NBIS, we place special emphasis on knowledge exchange and provide time for continuing education within the scope of the assignment. Your main responsibilities will be new development, further development, and maintenance of NBIS internal and external web systems, as well as incoming requests from various research groups. You will also participate in contacts with operations, teach, and contribute to the development of requirement specifications, MVPs, time estimates, testing, and documentation. Additionally, you will drive the development of guidelines and frameworks for how NBIS best conducts frontend development. Qualification Requirements As an applicant, you must have at least a bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, data science, systems science, or bioinformatics, or equivalent documented competence in one or more of these areas. Further requirements: At least three years of experience with at least two JavaScript frameworks such as Vue, Next.js, and React At least three years of experience with Strapi and Sitevision At least three years of experience with Python and Django At least three years of experience with version control using Git and CI/CD (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Bitbucket Pipelines) At least three years of experience with databases, e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB At least three years of experience with virtualization solutions and software containers (e.g., Docker or Podman) At least three years of experience with interaction design with a focus on usability (UX) and graphic design (UI). At least three years of experience working agile according to scrum and scrum roles certification (scrum master or product owner) That you can express yourself fluently in English and Swedish, both spoken and written. Desirable/Meritorious Additional Qualifications We would like the applicant to have experience working with information security standards and systems for sensitive data. Beyond this, the following are considered meritorious: Experience working in geographically distributed teams with communication and coordination via electronic tools such as video meetings and the like. Knowledge of TypeScript. Experience working in close collaboration with customers. Knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and guidelines for web development in the public sector.
