I manage the software department called "Sequence and Interlocking", which is responsible for providing safe and reliable operation of the switchgear in an HVDC station. This means we solve interlocking principles, status configurations, automated switching sequences and "ready for" conditions among many other things, and we are a vital part of any HVDC station. How you'll make an impact Create concept design for our customized control and protection systems. Work with detailed design, system integration and test-based development. Perform verification of our control and protection schemes – executed in test rooms and on-site. Lead a technical area and be part of a dedicated project team, in which we work together throughout all phases of our extensive projects. Your background You hold a university degree within a relevant technical area along with competence within system design or electrical expertise. As a minimum, 5 years of work experience in control and protection systems or HVDC or other related experience. It is an advantage if you have worked with commissioning of control and protection systems or if you have experience with control and protection systems of HVDC projects. Other valuable experience is earlier work with AC relays or digital protections. You have what it takes to plan and organize your own workday. You are a driven problem solver who eagerly takes initiatives and always delivers on time and according to expectations. In this position you are expected to be away abroad for periods of time. HVDC - Experienced Electrical Design Engineer
The Electrical Valve Design department is a part of Hitachi Energy HVDC Products in Ludvika. We as a department are globally responsible for electrical design and requirements of semiconductors based HVDC and SVC valves. HVDC valves are used to convert AC to DC, and vice versa, and are essential for HVDC power transmissions. SVC valves are used in SVC systems, to support and stabilize AC systems. We also are responsible for designing digital optical instrument transducers. These are state of the art and compact current measuring instruments suited specifically for HVDC applications. These current measuring instruments are used in different parts of an HVDC system, such as measuring the valve current to protect it against overcurrents and earth faults. It is also used for measuring harmonics and filter supervision. The Electrical Valve Design department in Sweden consists of 38 employees including the managers. We also have electrical design departments in India and China, who we work in close collaboration with. Our department is not only responsible for tenders and project deliveries, but also for productification of new valve solutions, life cycle management and provide technical support in upgrades & service projects. EMC Engineer
The opportunity Do you want to enable the green energy transition, and together with colleagues meet the world's needs for sustainable, flexible and secure energy? In your work you will be part of HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) business unit that is a part of Hitachi Energy's division and is located in Ludvika. The unit develops, manufactures and sells DC transmission systems on a global market. Hitachi Energy's developed HVDC technology is used to transmit electricity over long distances and for power transmission via submarine cables, thus enabling stability, cooperation between grids, sea-based wind power and more. Are you interested in working in the EMC domain in a challenging electromagnetic environment, where signal cables, electronics and many other systems meet high voltages and currents? Do you want to help ensure that the system maintains full functionality during fast transients with very high voltages? Does a department working to bridge mechanical and electrical aspects of the design by performing electro-mechanical studies with an overall system perspective in large scale projects, all in a highly international environment sound interesting? How you'll make an impact You use your practical EMC experience to ensure proper design and controlled performance during normal use, fast switching of a high voltage-high current system as well as during catastrophic events such as short circuits and the like. The role includes: Continuous improvement of guidelines and processes related to your area Documenting strategies and overall requirements from an EMC perspective in tenders, projects and R&D projects. Performing inspections to ensure proper installations at our sites internationally Work together with experts in areas like RF emission simulations and studies, grounding of very high currents and electro-magnetic field simulations. Being part of R&D activities to make sure we stay competitive also for the future. In this role you will have a lot of opportunities to explore various technical fields. The department is active in several multi-physics areas in close cooperation with both electrical and mechanical functions. Your background We are looking for a Master of Science degree in an electrical field, applied physics, power systems or similar. Experience from practical work with EMC is a big merit. I.e. Standards, mitigations, design for EMC, shielding philosophies, cable design etc. You have a keen interest in or understanding of mechanical aspects as well as electrical design. Experience in design of auxiliary power systems in HVDC or substation environment or other areas where high currents are involved (kA) Prior experience in any of the other technical areas mentioned above is beneficial but not a demand, your personality and interest are of high importance. As a person you are a positive, problem-solving individual with the attitude that everything is possible to do in a team. You will work in a team where being able to take responsibility and willingness to learn are key features. A general interest in technology is needed to be a good fit for this position. The goal is to have cost-effective solutions while fulfilling all requirements, which is why common sense and understanding of practical aspects is beneficial.
