Senior Maintenance Technician - Mechanical
EcoDataCenter is building one of Sweden's new mega data centers in Borlänge and the organization to operate it. We are now seeking a Senior Maintenance Technician Mechanical who wants to be part of the journey from the start and establish work methods, structures, and standards for mechanical maintenance. You are expected to be a technical role model and a key person in building up the maintenance operation. This is a rare opportunity to not only work within the structure, but to help create it. About the Role You are one of the most senior technical resources in the mechanical field and are expected to take significant ownership of priorities, technical assessments, and the development of our work methods. You will ensure high operational reliability and availability in the facility's mechanical systems. The role is largely coordinating in nature—approximately 70–80% involves planning, preparation, and follow-up—but you are also operationally active and move between the desk and the technical work. Your workday begins by reviewing new work orders in MaintMaster, our maintenance system. This may include alarms related to temperature, flows in cooling systems, or mechanical failures in pumps and valves. You analyze, prioritize, and plan actions, ensuring that the right resources are in place to carry them out. You prepare work by developing methods, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring proper conditions are met. A large part of the work involves coordinating contractors and ensuring they follow our routines and safety requirements. You follow up on deviations—both technical and in execution—and drive corrective actions so problems do not repeat. In parallel, you monitor the facility's status via BMS (Building Management System), participate in troubleshooting and practical actions when needed, and continuously contribute to improving instructions, routines, and maintenance plans as the campus grows. Your Main Responsibilities Plan, prepare, and follow up on maintenance work in the maintenance system Coordinate and manage contractors, ensuring work is performed according to routines and safety requirements Handle deviations, follow up on corrective actions, and drive improvement of work methods Perform operational monitoring and analyze alarms via BMS and other systems Participate in troubleshooting and practical maintenance of mechanical systems (pumps, valves, cooling systems) Develop and improve instructions, routines, and maintenance plans Who Are You? You have experience from technical operations and maintenance and are accustomed to taking responsibility in environments with high demands for quality and availability. You thrive in a role that combines practical work with planning, documentation, and coordination, and you understand that a large part of the job involves structure, not just being out in operations. We are looking for someone with a strong interest in learning new things and a clear desire to develop, both in the role and together with the business. You work methodically, take no shortcuts, and ensure others do the same. You are self-directed and take initiative even when everything is not fully in place, and you are comfortable in the role of coordinating and setting requirements for contractors in day-to-day operations. We welcome you from industry, HVAC, refrigeration, facilities, or other technical operations—the data center environment is something you will learn with us. Qualifications Technical education or equivalent work experience Several years of experience from technical operations or maintenance environments Experience with structured planning, follow-up, and documentation Knowledge in one or more of: cooling systems, mechanics/automation, HVAC/heating, or process systems Good computer skills and experience working with technical systems Very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written Meritorious Experience with cooling systems—This is highly meritious Experience with maintenance systems, for example MaintMaster Experience with BMS systems or similar monitoring systems Experience from data centers, industry, energy, healthcare, or other environments with high demands for availability Experience with contractor coordination and supplier management Experience with preparation or planning of maintenance work Other Information You report to the Maintenance Manager Mechanical. This is a permanent position. We apply a 6-month probationary period. Location: On site. As part of our recruitment process, we conduct background checks for final candidates.
