Competition for a Research Assistant position at the Institute of Solid State Physics, University of Latvia The Institute of Solid State Physics at the University of Latvia (IZM Education Institution Reg. No. 381016, VAT Reg. No. LV90002124925) announces a competition for the following academic positions: Physics and Astronomy (Natural Sciences) Research Assistant – 1 position Applications must specify the field and position for which the candidate wishes to apply. Position Objective: Scientific research work in the field of physics. Main Responsibilities: conduct individual research work and/or participate in the educational process under the supervision of a responsible manager; acquire solutions related to the research problem using literature sources, references, information materials, and technical documentation; collect, accumulate, and compile scientific information according to specific tasks; participate in the evaluation, publication, and popularization of research results obtained (publications, conferences, etc.); conduct practical classes for students, participate in the preparation of study materials, and participate in the process of assessing student knowledge; check and adjust experimental, control, and measurement equipment, ensure the precision of its operation; improve your qualifications and regularly follow developments in the scientific field in Latvia and worldwide. Requirements for Candidates: a doctoral or master's degree; in exceptional cases – a master's student or higher professional education; ability to conduct individual scientific work and work independently with student groups; computer skills; mandatory further education. Persons appointed to academic positions are elected for six years. Salary – from 8.00 EUR/h. Deadline for submission of applications: October 5, 2026.
