As an Environmental Manager with us, you will have a key role with significant authority to set direction, create structure, and drive development in an evolving operation. You will be part of the Growth and Supervision Administration with approximately 25 employees and will participate in the management group, where you work closely together with a focus on quality, collaboration, and development. Your primary location is in Karlskoga, with work also in Storfors municipality, which means regular travel during working hours. RESPONSIBILITIES As Environmental Manager, you have overall responsibility for the Environmental Unit in Karlskoga and Storfors. You lead, develop, and coordinate legally sound environmental and occupational health protection work with the goal of creating a sustainable and good living environment for residents today and in the future. You lead a competent team that works with supervision according to, among other things, the Environmental Code, the Food Act, and the Alcohol Act. At the same time, you actively contribute to the municipalities' strategic work in, for example, climate, circular economy, and sustainable societal development. The role involves moving between operational issues and strategic contexts, with the task of creating coherence, direction, and long-term development. You have overall responsibility for operations, finances, employees, and work environment and translate the assignment into good and measurable results in line with the operation's goals. Your main responsibilities: • lead and develop the operation with clear direction, structure, and follow-up • be responsible for needs assessments, supervision plans, quality work, and legally sound authority exercise • contribute to the municipalities' strategic environmental and sustainability work • prepare and present matters in committees, and participate in consultations and cross-municipal forums when needed • collaborate internally with other administrations on urban planning, development, water, waste, and climate adaptation issues • develop and maintain good relationships with business, residents, and other stakeholders in the municipalities • actively participate in the administration's management group • be the administration's contact person with Bergslagens Rescue Service (BRT) QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for someone who has: • relevant higher education in environment, natural sciences, political science, civil engineering, law, or equivalent that the employer deems relevant for the role • experience leading and developing groups, processes, or assignments with a clear strategic focus and the ability to translate ideas into results • knowledge of the Environmental Code and other relevant legislation and the ability to apply it in practice • experience with budget work, follow-up, quality work, and operations management • good knowledge of digital tools for productivity, communication, and collaboration, as well as experience working in operations systems, such as case management systems or supervision tools • very good Swedish, spoken and written • Category B driver's license (manual transmission) You are digitally confident and find it easy to learn and develop new work methods in new tools. You express yourself fluently in Swedish, which is necessary for legally sound authority exercise and to communicate with colleagues, residents, politicians, and management, as well as to prepare decision-making materials. As a leader, you are confident and clear and create structure even in change. You work purposefully with planning, prioritization, and follow-up, make decisions, and set boundaries when needed. You handle challenges with both directness and respect. You are responsive and relationship-focused, build trust, and are present in your leadership. You have the ability to see both the individual and the whole and create a work environment where employees develop. You are analytical and can translate complex information into clear decisions and priorities. You see connections between supervision, legislation, and strategic goals and work with a holistic perspective where both short-term needs and long-term development are included. It is a merit if you have: • leadership training • experience as an environmental inspector or similar role in the field • experience with authority exercise, needs assessments, and supervision plans • experience working in public administration, municipal operations, or other politically governed organization • experience leading change and development work • experience with or knowledge of strategic environmental and sustainability work Employment form: Permanent employment.
