Description of Operations The Department for Employment, Culture and Recreation, Youth Recreation's vision can be summarized as "We enrich life in Haninge" and we work to equip children and young people for adult life. The youth center's mission emphasizes the importance of young people being able to be who they are and become who they want to be! The young people in our activities are met by committed and competent recreation leaders who work for participation and safety in an accessible and equal environment. We work to create new and developmental activities based on young people's wishes, initiatives, and needs. Participation and influence are fundamental values for us as our children and young people help shape the activities with you as a recreation leader acting as a coach. Based on young people's lifestyle, differences, current trends, and wishes, we create attractive meeting places where young people ages 13-16 thrive and develop. Your Assignment As a recreation leader with us, you work to offer tailored activities in open and structured group activities. You lead and stimulate our visitors to become co-creators in their own recreation with the goal of them trying new things and developing more interests. The work involves responsibility for planning, documenting, implementing, and evaluating activities and operations. You'll collaborate with both colleagues and other partners and co-arrange activities with both civil society and business. The position also includes working to create safe and inclusive meeting places for young people and, of course, responsibility for maintaining regular routines in the operations such as keeping the premises in order, managing the kitchen, basic cleaning and laundry, etc. Your Qualifications Recreation leader training or other education and experience that the employer considers provides equivalent competence Knowledge of creating meaningful activities in collaboration with children and young people Knowledge of working with and for participation and influence for young people Ability to work relationship-building and with understanding and acceptance to discuss and converse about current social issues in meetings with children and young people Ability to create collaboration with both civil society and business, such as schools, parents, associations, social services, police, etc. Knowledge of different socioeconomic conditions and how they play an important role in our opportunities to participate in and our choices of recreation activities Knowledge of what contributes to an inclusive environment and what contributes to exclusion Understand and have the ability to recognize social behaviors and patterns on the Internet, based on the fact that social media today functions as a social meeting place for young people Your Competence We want you to be self-driven and activity-focused in daily work. You're driven by creating genuine participation and seeing children and young people develop. It's very important to us that you have personal maturity and want to be and function as a good role model. You're a relationship builder and can create trust and confidence based on a coaching and strategic leadership style. Since we work with many contact points and partners, such as schools, social services, parents, associations, police, etc., your collaboration skills are very important to us. Our tailored operations place high demands on both your flexibility and your leadership. Society's digitalization and how young people handle new technology will affect operations and place demands on competence in this area. We consider it desirable that you have experience working at a youth center as well as knowledge of LGBTQ+ issues, as well as knowledge of gender equality and norm-critical approaches and work. Meritorious are also project management experience and experience speaking to groups, as well as knowledge of methods for working with vulnerable and/or acting-out children and young people. Operations are conducted primarily during afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
