About Us at the Surgery Department
The Surgery Department is a general surgery care unit that is part of Surgery and Orthopedic Operations. In 2019, we moved into our new facilities at the hospital. The new department has 23 care beds designed so that each team of nurses, nursing assistants, paramedics, and physicians has a good work environment with modern technology that provides excellent conditions for delivering patient-safe and person-centered care together with patients and their families.
We primarily investigate and treat patients with acute surgical abdominal and intestinal disease, traumatic surgical injuries, and urological issues. We receive both acutely ill patients and patients coming for planned surgery. The department also works closely with the Palliative Team and manages five intervention spaces for patients admitted to the palliative team.
As a nurse in the surgery department, you never work alone. We work in teams that collaborate closely with various healthcare professionals. We maintain close cooperation with the surgical outpatient clinic, the palliative team, dietitian, and neighborhood care teams.
New Nurse or New to Surgical Care?
Introduction
Upon employment, we arrange safe and supportive mentoring for 4 weeks based on your needs.
Clinical Base Year
If you are a newly graduated nurse, the Clinical Base Year is included during your first year of permanent employment. The Clinical Base Year includes lectures, process-oriented nursing supervision, and practical training in your profession at the Simulation Center. It also includes working alongside colleagues in other departments so you gain a broader understanding of the hospital where you work.
Qualifications
You are a licensed nurse; previous experience in surgical and/or palliative care is an advantage. We are looking for someone who is flexible, independent, and thorough. You will work with varying tasks and patient categories. Additionally, you have a positive and cheerful attitude that aligns well with the department's spirit. Great weight is placed on personal suitability.
Terms
The position involves day, evening, and weekend shifts.
