Are you an engaged person who wants to help others?
We offer paid assignments to you who want to help create good days for one or more Karlstad residents who need extra support.
To get an assignment with us, you need to be engaged and interested in other people and have some extra time in your daily life. We have no educational requirements, but you must be at least 18 years old.
You need to have an independent and flexible work style and speak and write Swedish well enough to communicate with the care recipient, family members, colleagues, and other professionals. The assignment also includes some documentation.
Work Tasks
Companion
As a companion, you can help a person with a disability participate in activities in the community. This could be, for example, going to the cinema, joining someone for exercise, going to a swimming pool, or taking a walk. Companion service should be a personal service, tailored to each individual.
As a companion, you receive hourly compensation. If you have expenses related to your assignment, you will be reimbursed upon presentation of a receipt.
Contact Person
As a contact person, you are a friend who can help find leisure activities or give advice in everyday situations, thereby reducing social isolation. The purpose of the assignment is to give another person a meaningful leisure time with the opportunity for increased independence.
As a contact person, you receive compensation in the form of a fee and a reimbursement for expenses.
Respite Caregiver
As a respite caregiver, you temporarily take over the care of a child or youth with a disability from the parents. You give parents the opportunity to spend time with possible siblings or for their own activities.
As a respite caregiver, you receive hourly wages and possible additional compensation for inconvenient working hours.
Other
Interviews and placement occur continuously during the application period.

Information about salary levels can be found here (select "See salary statistics"). This recruitment concerns AID code 351040 regarding respite caregivers. Companion and contact person are paid assignments. In 2026, companions receive an hourly fee of 133 kr/h and contact persons receive a fixed fee of 140 kr/month + expense reimbursement at one meeting/week.
