We are now seeking an investigator of serious crimes with a focus on crimes in close relationships for the investigation section in the Skaraborg police district. Skaraborg Police District The Skaraborg Police District is one of five police districts in the West Police Region. The Skaraborg Police District covers 15 municipalities and is divided into two local police districts: Western Skaraborg and Eastern Skaraborg. At the district level, there is an investigation section and a district police office. Investigation Section The investigation section in the Skaraborg Police District is organized into serious crimes, surveillance, operational support, and on-call investigation leaders. The investigation section has a district-wide mandate and investigates crimes throughout the entire police district. The serious crimes investigation group is currently located in Skövde, Lidköping, Mariestad, and Falköping. The group works together, supports and helps one another, exchanges experiences, and develops together. Job Responsibilities: As an investigator in the serious crimes group, you will work with prosecutor-led preliminary investigations. The crimes investigated by this group involve various types of violence in close relationships or sexual offenses with adult victims. You have an important role in the preliminary investigation work where you gather information, compile materials, conduct interviews, and present cases to the investigation leader so they can make legally sound decisions. In your role as an investigator, you will have many contacts with complainants, witnesses, and suspects, and will also cooperate with other authorities and actors such as social services, schools, and guardians, which requires good communication skills. The role also includes contact with detained persons, and it is important that you feel comfortable in this type of meeting. If you are currently a civilian, you will also receive special training for civilian investigators. Further opportunities for professional development within the field may exist in the future. Qualifications This is an opportunity for you if you have: A Swedish police degree or post-secondary education from social work programs, behavioral science, psychology, criminology, or other areas that the Police Authority considers relevant for the position Work experience with independent case handling and investigation work from public sector activities that the Police Authority considers relevant, such as from police, social services, social emergency services, the Swedish Social Insurance Agency, or similar areas Good computer skills Very good knowledge of Swedish in both speech and writing Category B driver's license. It is also meritorious if you have: Experience meeting people in vulnerable situations within your professional role Experience working with legislation relevant to the position Experience interpreting and applying laws Good English conversation skills Knowledge of non-Nordic languages in which you can conduct conversations fluently. Personal Qualities: In this role, you are expected to be a good role model for the Police Authority. This means you are a trustworthy and stable person who can distinguish between the personal and professional by conducting yourself in a manner appropriate to the situation. As an investigator, you take responsibility by planning, organizing, and prioritizing your work. You have the ability to work efficiently and independently toward set deadlines even under high workload. Since investigations have different timeframes, you need to be flexible and quickly adapt when needed. In your work, you will have many contacts both internally and externally, which requires good collaboration skills and the ability to create and maintain good relationships. We will place great emphasis on personal qualities when filling this position.
