Stockholm – our capital with millions of dreams, expectations and ambitions. We work for everyone living here today and in the future. Now we're looking for you who wants to think big, new and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm. The Northern Inner City district comprises the central parts of Stockholm, Norrmalm and Östermalm. Here we work to provide our 155,000 residents with the best services in, among other things, preschool, social services, elderly care and urban development. We welcome you who want to make a difference for the residents of Northern Inner City. Welcome to us The Security and Safety Unit within the Quality Department works to make Stockholm a safe city for residents and visitors. The Klara area, which includes Sergels torg and Central Station, is a prioritized area for safety and place-based collaboration. Since 2016, we have collaborated with police and security guards, among others, to increase safety in the area. We are now seeking two Outreach Field Workers for the Klara area in the heart of Stockholm. The assignment has a clear focus on outreach work in public outdoor environments and is primarily directed at children, young people and young adults where concerns or problems have been observed. The work is carried out mainly at the indicated level. What we offer We are a relatively newly started operation, in active operation since April 2025. With us, there is an opportunity to get in at an early stage and contribute to the development of working methods and direction going forward. With us you get engaged and experienced colleagues with broad expertise in outreach work, a secure employment from the start with a permanent employment contract, wellness allowance and work clothes adapted for work in public outdoor environments. Your role As an Outreach Field Worker for Klara, you work actively in the Klara area, which is largely a high-risk environment and open drug scene. The work involves actively seeking out young people in public environments, building relationships in environments where problems have already been identified. You act safely, are clear and are a boundary-setting adult. You observe and handle situations where concerns exist here and now; the work is clearly operational and present. The assignment combines long-term relationship building with acute and situation-specific interventions, often in complex environments. You work in a context where collaboration between different social actors is crucial and contribute to concrete social benefit in one of Stockholm's most central and challenging areas. You collaborate closely with police, security guards, youth emergency services and other actors and participate in joint collaboration forums, including at Sergels torg and Stockholm Central Station. You also contribute with documentation and knowledge to local situational pictures and cause analyses. Because the work takes place outdoors, in all weather conditions and with many relocations, good physical fitness is required. The assignment differs from traditional field work as it does not include school visits or other types of group activities. Your competence and experience You need to have: a completed education as a social worker or other education deemed equivalent by the employer experience working with young people and young adults good ability to work in teams and in close collaboration with other actors good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written It is meritorious if you have: documented and current experience of outreach work in public outdoor environments (for example streets, squares or parks) experience working in high-risk environments knowledge of motivational interviewing (MI) and low-arousal approach We will place great emphasis on the following personal competencies: You should have a strong desire to work operationally in the public outdoor environment. You meet young people with empathy and you dare to set clear boundaries even in challenging situations. Other information At Stockholm City, we do not use probationary employment, which means you get the security that comes with being employed on a permanent basis from day one. The work follows a rolling schedule and includes day shifts, evening shifts, every other weekend and major holiday shifts.
