At the Faculty of Philosophy, education and research are conducted in economics, music, mathematics, humanities, social sciences, behavioral sciences, and educational science with a clear connection to society, culture, and democracy. Within the faculty, there are three institutions with a total of approximately 420 employees. The Department of Educational Science and Art conducts education primarily in teacher education. Within the department is also the School of Music and Opera, which provides education in music and opera. The research contributes new knowledge within Swedish education, music, and performing arts. At the department is also Mälardalen's Competence Center for Learning (MKL), which is the region's platform for collaboration on school development, teacher education, and research in educational science. Teaching also includes supervision, examination, course evaluation, and course development. Collaboration is an integrated part of the university's research and education mission, and as a University Lecturer, you actively contribute to the university's development work. Your responsibilities also include general administration, professional development, and participation in daily activities, subject matter work, and departmental operations. The position involves teaching future preschool teachers, elementary teachers grades F-3, 4-6, and after-school care staff in music and music didactics. The work also includes course responsibility, planning and assessment of teaching. The role also involves collaborating with visual arts and drama teachers in planning and teaching where aesthetic expression serves as both a tool for teaching and as an end in itself. It also includes conducting VFU visits in preschools, elementary schools, and after-school care facilities. Eligibility Requirements We seek someone who has demonstrated pedagogical skill, holds a music teacher degree, and has a Master's degree in pedagogy/didactics or equivalent competence. Pedagogical skill must be documented in such a way that the quality of previous work can be assessed. To be employed as a teacher at MDU, higher education pedagogy training or equivalent knowledge is required. Anyone hired without higher education pedagogy training will be offered the opportunity to complete such training within two and a half years. The higher education pedagogy training at Mälardalen University corresponds to ten weeks of study. In addition to the eligibility requirements established in the Employment Regulations at MDU, this position requires the following: You have documented experience teaching music, rhythm, and singing in preschool and elementary school, and documented experience teaching music, rhythm, and singing in teacher education programs for preschool and/or elementary teachers. Furthermore, you have good Swedish language skills, both spoken and written. Assessment Criteria The assessment criteria shall include both the degree of skill required for the position and the ability and suitability otherwise required to perform the work tasks well. In addition to the assessment criteria established in the Employment Regulations at MDU, particular weight will be given to the following for this position: experience with vocal care and leading choir singing and ensemble participation in research and development projects within preschool, elementary school, and higher education documented experience teaching music, rhythm, and singing in preschool, elementary school, and adapted school In an overall assessment of suitability, personal qualities are also valued.
