Read more about us at: kau.se/jobb Description The Faculty of Health, Nature and Engineering Sciences is seeking a temporary university lecturer in mathematics to be placed at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. The department conducts research and education in mathematics and computer science. Mathematics has major teaching responsibilities within teacher and engineering programs. Research is conducted in both mathematics and the didactics of mathematics. Mathematical research encompasses both theoretical and applied questions, with particular focus on analysis, modeling, simulation and optimization. Mathematical didactics research addresses learning and teaching of mathematics in various educational contexts, including digitalization, problem solving, mathematical reasoning and professional development. For more information see www.kau.se/matematik Duties The position primarily involves teaching. Teaching includes lectures, exercises and supervision of individual projects. Teaching in higher education and civil engineering programs may also be included. Teaching takes place for both campus and distance students as well as in hybrid form. Other administrative duties at the department that may be included in the position include participating in working groups, committees and councils. The position also includes collaboration with other parts of the university and the surrounding community. Therefore, it is important that the candidate has good ability to collaborate in teaching teams and in other groups. To contribute to a good work environment and development of operations, you are expected to be on-site and participate in daily work and community. Qualifications To be eligible for appointment as a temporary university lecturer in mathematics, you must have a degree of at least 180 higher education credits (hp) in mathematics, or a civil engineering degree, or other professional qualifications that are relevant to the subject content of the position and the duties involved. Additional qualification requirements according to the employment regulations: Good subject knowledge Pedagogical ability Teachers must also have completed higher education pedagogy training. If such training is lacking, employment may still be granted on the condition that the employee commits to completing it within the framework of skills development time during the first two years of employment, or alternatively applies to have equivalent knowledge validated. For fixed-term employment, exceptions may be made from the requirement for higher education pedagogy training. All employees are expected to collaborate and treat colleagues and students with respect, take responsibility for operations and their own duties, and contribute to a good work environment. Evaluation Criteria Of particular importance for this position are: Documented experience teaching mathematics in engineering programs. Master's degree in mathematics or related subject or civil engineering degree. Documented pedagogical skills. Good English language skills and ability to teach in English. Of great importance for this position are: Good Swedish language skills and ability to teach in Swedish. That the applicant's competence profile strengthens and broadens the team's expertise. The applicant's personal qualities such as ability to collaborate, flexibility, commitment to the operations. Ability to build good relationships with colleagues and students and ability to take own initiative. Meritorious Experience with research education. Terms The position is a part-time temporary employment of at least 50% from 2026-11-02, or by agreement until 2027-03-31, with possibility for extension.
