Workplace Description The National Resource Center for Physics (NRCF) at the Department of Physics is seeking a new University Lecturer in Physics Didactics. The Department of Physics conducts world-leading education and research across several research fields. The department is research-intensive and conducts both basic and applied research. The Department of Physics is one of the university's largest departments with approximately 420 employees. NCRF's core mission is to provide professional development, support, and resources for school teachers throughout the country in collaboration with other stakeholders. Another central task for NRCF is responsibility for physics teacher education for upper secondary and middle school, and a qualifying teacher development course in physics (45 hp) for active middle school teachers, examination of practice-based education, and teaching STEM didactics within the complementary pedagogical education at the university. Job Description The lecturer position will primarily (at least 50%) involve teaching, course responsibility and course development, as well as supervision and examination of degree projects in the physics subject teacher education program and the complementary pedagogical education. The University Lecturer will also work with professional development for active teachers and collaboration with schools regarding physics education in preschool, primary, middle, and upper secondary school. The position will also include administrative tasks. Additionally, competence development and research (at least 10%) will be included. The content of the work tasks may change over time. Qualifications To be eligible for employment as a University Lecturer, you must have: completed an advanced degree or acquired equivalent knowledge in another way, and have other competence that is significant with regard to the subject focus of the position and the work tasks included in the employment, demonstrated pedagogical skill. Great emphasis is placed on pedagogical education and documented pedagogical ability. Among other things, university pedagogical education of at least five weeks or equivalent knowledge acquired in another way is required according to the regulations. In special cases, exceptions may be made from this requirement. For teachers at Lund University, the general eligibility requirement is to be suitable for and have the ability needed to perform the work tasks well. Assessment Criteria Requirements for employment: teacher's degree and teacher certification in physics for upper secondary school, excellent pedagogical ability, many years of experience teaching physics in Swedish upper secondary schools, experience teaching physics and STEM subjects didactics within subject teacher education and complementary pedagogical education, excellent collaboration and communication skills, excellent ability to express yourself orally and in writing in Swedish and English. Meritorious for employment: research competence (doctoral degree) in physics didactics with relevance to physics education in schools, experience planning and leading professional development initiatives for teachers in schools, experience examining practice-based education within subject teacher education and complementary pedagogical education, experience supervising and examining degree projects within subject teacher education and complementary pedagogical education. Great weight will be placed on how the applicant can strengthen and complement the department's work within the various physics teacher education programs. Important qualities are also the ability to share knowledge and collaborate with research and teaching staff, both internally and externally. Above all, the applicant should have a strong interest in teaching and learning and base their work on personal experience and physics didactics research to carry out their mission. We will place great emphasis on personal suitability. Consideration will be given to good collaboration skills, initiative and independence, and how the applicant through their experience and competence is assessed to complement and strengthen the work within NRCF.
