The Medical Acute Care Unit (MAVA) is part of Internal Medicine in Gävle and has 20 care beds. Here, acutely ill patients with medical problems are treated. The main diagnoses on the unit are liver cirrhosis, liver failure, heart problems/arrhythmias, intoxication and addiction, diabetes and electrolyte disturbances, but also patients with other medical problems such as infections, COPD or general decline.
We work toward rapid patient flow and short care periods. We work toward good collaboration between different professional groups on the unit to facilitate work and ensure a good work environment and patient safety.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Work on the unit is currently distributed between a registered nurse and a nursing assistant per care team, with responsibility for five patients. Job tasks are often close to the patient in close collaboration with the registered nurse and other colleagues. MAVA provides care around the clock, which means shifts during days, evenings, nights and weekends.

• basic care and customary nursing assistant tasks
• checks according to prescribed treatment and follow-up
• specimen collection, connecting telemetry and telemetry maintenance
• assisting with drain placement.

QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for you who are a nursing assistant and enjoy challenges. You need to be flexible and have the ability to quickly adapt to changed circumstances. Having good initiative, showing interest and thus being helpful are important qualities to succeed in the role as a nursing assistant with us. You will need to handle rapid prioritization at one moment and the next moment hold a patient's hand and provide reassurance. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
In the role of nursing assistant you should
• have upper secondary education in health and care
• be able to communicate fluently in Swedish in both speech and writing
• have good computer skills as documentation is done digitally.
For this position, it is beneficial if you have experience from similar activities.
Information about the title nursing assistant
As of July 1, 2023, nursing assistant became a protected professional title. This means that you will need a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare to use the title nursing assistant in health and care. You can apply for the certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare. If you do not have a certificate, you can continue to work in health and care, but with a title other than nursing assistant. In Region Gävleborg, this means that the title in your employment agreement will be care assistant until your certificate is submitted.

Duration: 6 months or longer, start date: start by agreement through 2027-08-31.
