We are looking for a positive and driven nursing assistant with an interest in surgical care who wants stimulating and varied work. At our Surgical Ward 39, we care for patients with cancer or other diseases of the entire gastrointestinal tract including liver, bile ducts, and endocrine diseases. Many of our patients are admitted for scheduled operations, but we also have acute admissions and care following trauma. We offer five weeks of introduction with a personal mentor and an orientation program on the ward where we focus on surgical nursing care. Job Duties The tasks are varied, ranging from acute care and nursing to observation of surgical patients. Our work also involves contributing to postoperative recovery for our operated patients. As a nursing assistant with us, many practical elements are included in the work such as inserting urinary catheters, taking blood samples, wound care of surgical wounds, stoma care, managing and flushing drains, taking NEWS checks, and more. Contact with family members and collaboration with other professions is also an important part of the work. Qualifications We welcome you who are trained as a nursing assistant, preferably with a focus on acute care according to the previous program structure, or are trained as a nursing assistant within the current program structure. In order to assess employability, grades from your nursing education and proof from the Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare regarding protected professional title must be attached to your application. Experience from acute and surgical care is a merit. Other certificates, grades, diplomas, etc., should be provided at a possible interview. About the Operations The Surgery operations area has close collaboration between the region's three hospitals. The area has a regional assignment for acute and planned surgical care and also provides some highly specialized care for patients from outside the region. Here work 350 employees within various units such as outpatient clinic, ward, operating room, and secretariat. Planned care is increasingly located in Karlskoga and Lindesberg and similarly, tumor and trauma operations are located in Örebro. Within the operations area, active development work is conducted with the patient in focus throughout the entire care process.
