We are now looking for a traffic planner who wants to help further develop public transportation in an organization that is at the forefront and that works every day to make travel easier, smarter, and more sustainable. Duties As a traffic planner with us, you will have an important role in developing and planning public transportation in Västmanland County. You will work both strategically and operationally to ensure that the traffic supply meets passenger needs, political goals, and the organization's financial conditions. The role involves analyzing travel patterns, traffic data, and external changes to develop an attractive and efficient traffic supply. You will work with timetable planning, traffic arrangements, and monitoring of traffic deliveries, and participate in developing public transportation together with municipalities, traffic companies, and other partners. You will work closely with other functions within the Public Transportation Authority, such as research strategists, traffic agreement coordinators, marketing and communications, and finance. The work is characterized by collaboration, analysis, and development with the goal of making it easier and more attractive to travel by public transportation in Västmanland. Your main responsibilities Design, analyze, and develop timetables and traffic arrangements for the county's public transportation. Quality assure, analyze, and monitor passenger statistics, traffic data, and customer needs as a basis for traffic development and operational development. Plan and follow up changes in traffic supply in dialogue with traffic companies, municipalities, and other relevant stakeholders. Contribute to the development of traffic plans, investigations, and decision-making documents. Ensure that traffic solutions are in line with political goals, traffic supply programs, and financial frameworks. Participate in procurement, implementation, and monitoring of public transportation when relevant. Contribute to the development of sustainable, accessible, and customer-tailored travel solutions throughout the county. Participate in regional and national collaboration forums within traffic planning and public transportation development. About the workplace The Public Transportation Authority is responsible for planning, developing, and monitoring public transportation in Västmanland. Together with traffic companies, municipalities, and other partners, we create conditions for accessible, sustainable, and attractive travel. The position is placed in the General Public Transportation operational area within the Public Transportation Authority at Region Västmanland. The authority consists of approximately 90 employees and brings together expertise in traffic planning, traffic development, and strategic public transportation planning. The unit consists of three traffic planners, four research strategists, one project manager, and is led by a department manager. We are located in modern facilities in central Västerås, close to Västerås Central Station, which offers transportation options by train and bus. Qualifications We are looking for someone with higher education in, for example, transport, urban planning, or other education that the employer considers relevant for the position. Alternatively, you have equivalent theoretical knowledge acquired through work experience. You have a few years of work experience in areas such as traffic or public transportation planning, for example network planning or timetable planning, traffic analysis, traffic modeling, passenger data, or traffic-related urban planning. It is advantageous if you have experience in work where analysis, coordination, and development have been central tasks. Experience from working in politically governed organizations, project management, or collaboration between multiple stakeholders is also advantageous. You have strong analytical skills and are used to processing and drawing conclusions based on data and statistics. You work in a structured and quality-conscious manner while having the ability to see the big picture and understand how different decisions affect passengers, operations, and society. For this position, fluent Swedish is required in speech and writing. You have good computer skills and work proficiently in Microsoft Office. Experience with traffic planning tools such as Rebus or similar systems is advantageous. We would appreciate it if you have a B-class driver's license.
