Open Position – Traffic Controller in Värnamo Would you like a key role where you lead daily operations and ensure that transportation runs smoothly? We are now seeking an engaged, decisive, and well-organized Traffic Controller for our depot in Värnamo. We are looking for: Permanent employment (we apply a trial period), Full-time 100% (daytime). About the Role & Job At Connect Bus, we play a crucial role in promoting sustainability and growth while offering valuable public services. Through our services, we enable daily commuting, school trips, and travel for thousands of people every day. As a traffic controller, you have operational responsibility for coordinating daily traffic production and all activities conducted outside the depot area (drivers in traffic, vehicles in operation, and customer-impacting events). You are the hub that ensures traffic is conducted according to schedule, traffic agreements, and applicable regulations. The role involves having the mandate to make operational decisions, prioritize and redistribute resources, and initiate disruption and crisis management during extraordinary events. Key Responsibilities: Operational Traffic Control & Monitoring: Monitor and follow up on traffic production in real-time and ensure that decisions and measures are clearly communicated to all relevant parties. Disruption & Deviation Management: Make operational decisions during traffic disruptions, accidents, and incidents. Coordinate replacement traffic and alternative traffic solutions to minimize impact on passengers and clients. Work Leadership & Driver Support: Provide support and guidance to drivers in their daily work and handle vehicle and personnel-related deviations to ensure daily staffing. Collaboration & Coordination: Involve the right function at the right time. You actively cooperate with the workshop (for traffic-safe vehicles), personnel planning, operational support, operations managers, and clients. Safety, Quality & Development: Document and report incidents, participate in investigations of traffic-related events, and contribute to the development of working methods, routines, safety, and work environment. You remain calm in stressful situations, have good judgment, and do not hesitate to make clear decisions under time pressure. Communicative & Collaboration-Oriented: You ensure effective information flow and cooperate smoothly with drivers, workshop staff, management functions, and external stakeholders. Well-Organized & Responsible: You work carefully with follow-up and documentation and take responsibility for stable, safe, and efficient traffic production. Qualifications Requirements: Driver's License: Valid D-class driver's license required. Language Skills: Fluent in speaking and writing Swedish and have good knowledge of English in both speech and writing. System Knowledge: Good experience with computers, digital tools, and traffic control/planning systems. Education & Experience: Minimum upper secondary education (or equivalent) and 1–2 years of experience from the public transportation sector. Local Knowledge: Good knowledge of current traffic type, route network, and local geography.
