Do you want to be part of developing the traffic and street environments of the future? As a traffic engineer with us, you'll have a varied role alongside engaged colleagues. You'll become part of the Community Development Office's traffic and street operations, where collaboration and close dialogue are important parts of everyday work. In this role, you'll work with issues related to technology, traffic flow, traffic safety, and accessibility, and follow traffic matters throughout the entire community development process. The work is varied and includes both practical matters in operations and planning and development over the longer term. You'll work with traffic and street environment issues at both strategic and operational levels and are also responsible for decisions and administrative tasks within the unit's regulatory authority. A particular area of responsibility is the municipality's street lighting. You'll work with the management, development, and renewal of lighting installations and drive forward issues regarding traffic safety, energy efficiency, and modern lighting technology. The role involves close collaboration with contractors, consultants, and internal operations, as well as participation in both investment projects and the ongoing management of the municipality's lighting installations. The work also includes handling various types of traffic and regulatory matters, responding to feedback from the public, and participating in the preparation of various technical documents in collaboration with the department's operations engineers, traffic engineers, and planners. Regulatory matters that may be relevant to the position include handling of temporary traffic arrangement plans, transport exemptions, and local traffic regulations (LTFer). Qualifications Requirements: Higher education in traffic engineering and community development or equivalent experience relevant to the role of traffic engineer The ability to express yourself well in speech and writing and good computer skills, as you'll use various systems in your daily work Merits: Previous experience working with operations contracts and street operations Regulatory authority within municipal operations Good knowledge of traffic legislation governing our area of operations Experience with GIS and digital mapping tools Ability to use geographic data to support planning, analysis, and management of the municipality's traffic and street environments In the role of traffic engineer, you need the ability to take responsibility, independently plan your work, and make your own decisions. You are structured and thorough in your approach to work. Furthermore, you need to be flexible and have good collaboration skills as we work closely together in our team. The unit works operationally and strategically with traffic planning and the handling of regulatory matters. The unit's mandate also includes planning and implementing investment measures in the municipality's road network, such as the expansion of new pedestrian and bicycle paths, traffic safety measures, and renovation of public spaces.
