F 16 is responsible for Uppsala garrison and the operation of Uppsala airfield. The wing is also responsible for monitoring Swedish airspace around the clock, year-round, and leads the Air Force's fighter aircraft in the air. You will be part of a military organization undergoing major change and development due to the global situation and Sweden's NATO membership. About the unit 163rd Garrison Battalion consists of the Logistics Company, Garrison Company, and Training Company, which together create the conditions for assigned units to focus on their core mission. The battalion's role and tasks are developing rapidly to meet the new tasks and challenges facing Sweden and the Armed Forces. Main responsibilities The Training Company trains soldiers, officers, and volunteers for F 16 combat units. As technical chief, you will work with a dedicated team that plans, prepares, and leads the company during training and exercises. As technical chief, you lead, plan, and coordinate the company's technical service. You schedule and follow up on inspections, checks, and repairs of the company's vehicles and other technical systems. The technical chief functionally leads, supports, and controls the platoons' technical service in close cooperation with the company's quartermaster. During defined periods, you lead the platoons regarding maintenance, recovery, transport, and material service. You support the company commander and quartermaster with decision-making information on matters concerning technical service. You support and train the company's leaders and personnel, as well as conscripts, within your areas of responsibility. Within the Armed Forces, we always work as a team. You work well independently and can structure your own working time. The position requires good collaboration skills and the ability to work well in small teams. You can see longer sequences and can independently adapt your work tasks based on a larger objective. You are comfortable actively sharing ideas and challenging working methods within your defined area of work. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability. The unit is part of the Swedish Air Force and is responsible for the operation and monitoring of Uppsala airfield as well as training of conscripts in several different positions in the Air Force. The unit also leads the 161st Command and Air Surveillance Battalion, which directs fighter aircraft in the air and handles the continuous monitoring of Swedish airspace. The unit operates from several different locations in the country and is an important part of the growth period the Air Force is entering.
