JOB DUTIES
We are seeking a career and education counselor for our junior high school. In this role, you contribute to increasing students' self-awareness, faith in the future, and knowledge of educational paths and professions. You work both strategically and operatively with career and education guidance and are an important part of the school's student health and development work.
The role includes the following work tasks:
• Individual counseling sessions with students in grades 7–9
• Planning and implementation of study and career orientation initiatives (SYV) in groups/classes
• Support in selection processes, including in preparation for upper secondary school choice
• Collaboration with mentors, teachers, school leadership, and student health services
• Contact with guardians as needed
• Cooperation with upper secondary schools, the working world, and other external actors (e.g., PRAO, study visits, information initiatives)
• Documentation and follow-up according to school procedures
• Coordination across multiple junior high schools and municipality-wide tasks may be included in the position
QUALIFICATIONS
For this position, the following are required:
• Career and education counselor degree (or ongoing education assessed as equivalent)
• Strong ability to establish trusting relationships with students
• Ability to work in a structured, independent, and goal-oriented manner
• Good communicative ability in speech and writing in Swedish
• Digital proficiency (e.g., study planning tools, Google/Microsoft 365)
Meritorious for the position:
• Experience working as a career counselor at the junior high level
• Knowledge of upper secondary school programs and eligibility requirements
• Experience with PRAO collaboration and contacts with the working world
• Multilingualism
