JOB RESPONSIBILITIES We are seeking an engaged and knowledgeable career and educational counselor who values collaboration with other professionals at the school. Nyköping Upper Secondary School is located at three different sites in the city: Nico, Gripen, and Skavsta. Therefore, it is desirable that you have a driver's license to be able to transport yourself between buildings when needed. The school's career and educational counselors are part of the school's student welfare team, whose overarching mission according to education law is to contribute to creating environments that promote students' learning, development, and health. This includes working with school management to develop routines and goals for the school as a whole, as well as establishing procedures for planning, follow-up, and development of counseling in accordance with national and local objectives. As a career and educational counselor, you work to help students make well-informed choices about their future studies and careers, both individually and in groups. The counseling must be objective and counteract limitations based on gender or social or cultural background. You will also present the school's educational programs to students in year 9 from the school's catchment area. There may also be a coordinating role at the school where, for example, career and educational counseling combined with scheduling and/or other responsibilities could be involved. This coordinating function also entails expanded responsibility within student welfare with a focus on career and educational counseling for Nyköping Upper Secondary School. Nyköping Upper Secondary School is a large school, and you will also collaborate with other student welfare professionals at the school. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for someone with a degree from a career and educational counseling program. Personal suitability and ability to collaborate are important factors in our recruitment. To thrive in this role, we believe you have a strong commitment to young people's life situations and an interest in outreach preventive work. You work well with both school staff and external contacts. You have strong ability to work independently and take initiative, as well as work in both larger and smaller groups. You have good communication skills with young people, both individually and in groups.
