Disability Care Services in Umeå Municipality aims to be a resource in proximity and collaboration that frees and strengthens people's ability to live an independent life. Circelgatan and Vintergatan are both residential facilities for children according to 9 § 8 LSS – housing with special services for children and young people with disabilities. Here, staff are available around the clock to provide support and care based on each child's individual needs. We offer a safe home environment where children have the opportunity for social community, development, and meaningful activities, both within and outside the residence. Together, we work to create participation, strengthen children's independence, and give them the best possible daily life. We are now seeking a Support Educator! Your Work Tasks As a Support Educator at a residential facility for children, you will work primarily at Cirkelgatan, where you support children in their daily lives and help create a safe and developmental environment. In addition to daily work, you have an important role in supporting colleagues with documentation work. This includes providing guidance on creating and following up on implementation plans, action plans, and other documentation. When needed, you will also support Vintergatan's staff as a Support Educator, coordinated with your supervisor. Your role also includes supporting children during both days and nights based on their individual needs. You maintain ongoing contact with guardians and collaborate closely with colleagues, your supervisor, and other relevant stakeholders. Important Information Externalizing behavior occurs at this facility. Working hours are arranged for days, evenings, and weekends. Within Disability Care Services, we work with joint planning with other operations. About You We are looking for someone who wants to make a difference for this target group and who has good pedagogical skills. To succeed and thrive working with us, you have a strong ability to collaborate and be flexible. Of course, you have a professional approach toward the children, relatives, and other stakeholders. You are engaged, share our values, and want to work together with your supervisor and colleagues to develop and work toward set goals. Since children are quick-moving, you also need good mobility and energy. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability. In order for you to communicate with users, colleagues, and other networks, write and access care documentation, and receive medication delegation, you must have good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing. Requirements Post-secondary education in the form of at least 200 YH credits, Support Educator or other equivalent vocational higher education. Alternatively, 60 higher education credits in relevant courses related to disability care. Programs and/or courses with a clear focus on working with intellectual, cognitive, or mental disabilities. For example, in: - Ethical approaches - Pedagogical theories and methods - Alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) - Cognitive support - Coaching approaches Experience working in LSS services. Driver's license category B. Meritorious Experience working with children, preferably those with disabilities. Experience with challenging/externalizing behaviors. Experience with epilepsy.
