Support Assistant Needed for BmSS in Southwest Gothenburg
GÖTEBORGS KOMMUN · Vollzeit
Göteborgs Stad, Göteborg, Schweden
About the Position We are looking for you to provide support to people in their daily lives, both at home and in the community. Bankogatan, located near Axel Dahlströms torg, is a residential facility with special services for eight individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities. The support needs of our residents vary, from comprehensive care with full ADL (Activities of Daily Living) to more verbal support and guidance. Our goal is to provide individually tailored support so that residents can live as independently as possible while we promote health and rehabilitation. As a support assistant, your work involves providing individually adapted support through a calm and professional approach, as well as encouraging and motivating residents in their daily rehabilitation and living. Some of our residents require extensive care assistance and help with mobility. As a support assistant at Bankogatan, you will work closely with the health and care team, which includes nurses, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists. Your responsibilities also include medication management according to delegation, social documentation in the Treserva system, and certain administrative tasks. Some of us face barriers when the world is not designed according to how we function. As a support assistant, your role is to support residents in participating and creating opportunities for them to influence decisions and services. You are a support in daily life—everything from communication, stimulation of leisure activities, to household tasks. Your role is to adapt your support and contribute to a good and independent life. You will collaborate with others around the resident, such as guardians, social workers, family members, and healthcare providers. We use the scheduling program Time Care and actively work with optimized staffing and collaboration between units in the scheduling group. Work is currently scheduled for day shifts, evening shifts, and two out of four weekends. Morning shifts begin at 07.00 and evening shifts can run until 21.30. About You We are looking for someone with a diploma from the Care and Support Program, support assistant training, or the Children and Leisure Program with a focus on social or pedagogical work. The education requirement is also met if you have post-secondary specialization in the disability field covering at least 200 yh-poäng, 120 higher education credits, or a combination equivalent to at least four full-time semesters of study. Alternatively, 60 higher education credits and at least two years of experience working with support and services for people with disabilities. Your education should include relevant credits in behavioral science, pedagogy, psychology, social work, and (psychiatric) care or other training that the employer deems equivalent. You have experience working with people with intellectual disabilities and using calm, professional approaches. Care work constitutes a significant part of daily work since some of our residents have extensive care needs. We therefore hope you have previous experience working with people with complex needs and care work. Good Swedish language skills, both spoken and written, are essential for communication with our users and staff, as well as for tasks involving social documentation. A requirement is passing Swedish 1 or Swedish as a Second Language 1. If you do not meet the Swedish language qualification requirements, you may be offered a language test through EducateIt. If you also have experience with any of the following methods, that is an advantage: - AAC (Alternative and Augmentative Communication) - MI (Motivational Interviewing) - Visual Support Pedagogy - ADL (Activities of Daily Living) You are friendly and helpful toward others, even in stressful situations.
